EG7 Announces Minimal Affect, a Hilarious Space Adventure with a Crew of Cosmic Misfits

Go boldly into absurdity! Enad Global 7 (EG7) today announced Minimal Affect, a comical sci-fi action RPG packed with heroics and humor developed by Toadman Studios, coming to most major consoles and Windows PC in 2021. Created by an experienced team of longtime sci-fi fanatics, the title is a love letter to a wildly popular entertainment genre, and aims to deliver an authentic, but unexpected, “space epic” with a diverse crew of dubious characters.

“Minimal Affect is our homage to some of the greatest sci-fi RPGs, movies, and shows that we absolutely love,” said Rasmus Davidsson, Creative Director on Minimal Affect. “While the story is ridiculous, the gameplay certainly is not - this is a fully fledged action-RPG created in the art-style of adult animation you know and love. It’s a super galactic tale of space adventure, comedy, and questionable morality.”

Warp speed into the absurd on a one of a kind journey across the Milky Way in Minimal Affect! What happens when the rag-tag crew aboard the Star Alliance Balding Eagle blasts off on their maiden journey? Well, things get scary real quick. And the team turns to… their “fearless” leader?

Minimal Affect is a story-driven space adventure with a colorful cast of characters on a quest to save the galaxy once again and get into a LOT of space alien combat. Guide your team, meet new characters, learn new skills, explore side quests and generally do everything you’d expect to do in a third-person action RPG, all set in a vibrant, stylish world that feels like playing a cartoon.

Developed by Toadman Studios and published by Sold Out– both companies in the EG7 group, Minimal Affect will launch in North America and Europe in 2021. The title will be available on most major consoles and Windows PC at launch, with more platform details to be revealed at a later date. For more information, please visit minimalaffect.com.

Dear developers, stop using this shittastic art style for your games. Thanks.

Should have gotten my hommie Doug TenNapel to do the art.

Looks fucking awful.

The thing about trying to take the piss out of another franchise, one that generally was pretty successful. Is that you have to do it really well and be smart about it.

That looks as though it was written by smart arsed mouthy 12 yr old, who just isn't funny.

Looks awesome to me!!! I'll be getting this for sure!

Doug is cool, that would have been great. Earthworm Jim for the win.

It'd be a far cry better than an art team that really wanted it to look like something Justin Roiland was involved with.

It has been weird for me watching animation style getting worse by the time (when it should be the other way around)...

look for example at the thundercats:

It is like we are devolving.

Anime tends to get better with time, but other kinds of animation do not.

Yeah that was the obvious thing they were going for and it just looks like a generic crap imitation.

Meeks 04-24-2020 07:16 AM

That's valid but did we mention it's "hilarious" ?!

Yeah. and honestly, 99% of anime is just as bad and absolutely unwatchable for me.
The 1% of good stuff is mostly very old, too. Something like Wolfe's Rain for example.

I did enjoy One Punch Man recently though, it's pretty hilarious.

The Rick and Morty style works... for Rick and Morty. And if you have to tell me your game is "hilarious" then it probably isn't.

Not impressed by what I see here.

You're comparing intros? That's a huge disservice to your argument. The original Thundercats had one of the best intros of all time! The show itself? Nothing like the intro, and generally very bad in animation... As most cartoons were at the time.

RAV 04-25-2020 12:08 AM

Maybe depends what era and stuff exactly we are comparing.
Most of the old Disney stuff was great across the board since forever.
Then we got the old Superman/Batman stuff which was also cool as heck.
On the anime side we got stuff like Cowboy Bebop, Trigun, etc
which is heads and shoulders above anything I've seen lately.

NACIONAL 04-25-2020 03:58 PM

Yeah the animation wasn't as the intro but it still was mile better that that crap of Thundercats Roar
