Songbirds & Snakes Releasing Tonight

Suzanne Collins Hunger Games Sequel, The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes, releases tonight at Midnight.

Quote:

It is the morning of the reaping that will kick off the tenth annual Hunger Games. In the Capitol, eighteen-year-old Coriolanus Snow is preparing for his one shot at glory as a mentor in the Games. The once-mighty house of Snow has fallen on hard times, its fate hanging on the slender chance that Coriolanus will be able to outcharm, outwit, and outmaneuver his fellow students to mentor the winning tribute.

The odds are against him. He's been given the humiliating assignment of mentoring the female tribute from District 12, the lowest of the low. Their fates are now completely intertwined - every choice Coriolanus makes could lead to favor or failure, triumph or ruin. Inside the arena, it will be a fight to the death. Outside the arena, Coriolanus starts to feel for his doomed tribute . . . and must weigh his need to follow the rules against his desire to survive no matter what it takes.
I'm looking forward to this one, even if the movies were pretty much crap after the first one. Right now I'm reading Pete Dexter's Deadwood. It's amazing!

If you liked the TV show, you should check this one out. It appears that they stole most of the TV show from this novel.

the name sounds like a parody of Game of Thrones.

I didn't read the Hunger game novels. Saw the first movie, liked it, and I barely remember watching the second one.

It seems that this is not for me. But I really don't understand what is the big hoopla about this series.

I am currently reading a couple of small novels by Brian McClellan (Uncanny Collateral and Blood Tally) about a collections agent for the demons. Short but very fun!.

I liked the trilogy well enough but never watched the 3rd and 4th film out of protest for breaking the book up into two movies.

It didn't need that treatment and was just a flat out cash grab. From what I understand the two movies were the worst for wear due to it.

I'm not excited about this book, though I suppose I may grab it eventually, mostly because it seems like there's too much retreading of old themes and not enough new ground. Seeing a Snow as the good guy might be fun.

I've never read any of the books, and only saw the first two movies. My wife was a pretty big fan of the series, so I'll be picking a copy up for her; it's coming out just in time for her birthday, so it'll be a gift I can add to the pile.

Wouldn't that sound like a bunch of tweeting interspersed with the occasional hiss?
