Played a good amount of it yesterday - most of the side stuff - and had an absolute blast. It's VERY much like the first, and that's a good thing in my eyes. Everything has been tightened up and expanded upon. Few things I've not seen yet (e.g. random people roaming the streets) but so far so good!

I am also enjoying the beta on my PC. With this and Anthem about to drop -- good couple months of Co-Op gaming coming my way.

Are the enemies still bullet sponges?

Dag-Sabot 02-08-2019 12:13 PM

More of the same as lastime and you have to pay for extra storage space for your loot. Fuck that.

If you didn't like Division 1, you won't like Division 2 IMHO

Played an hour and a bit of it yesterday, some nice changes from the first, but overall it feels a bit too samey for me.

Already played a ton of Division 1, and the setting/weapons/skills aren't really interesting enough for me to want to go back very much.

I got the invite to the private beta and since it is dumping down more snow in the Seattle area so I am going to settle down in my Comfy (like a nice fuzzy blanket sewn into a wearable hoody-like thing) and give this a go over the weekend.

I probably won't do the dark zone but I have high hopes for the rest of it.

I hate division and always have. I prefer multiplication.

Are the graphics any better? They were pretty good in 1 but the last footage was amazing. FYI, my computer sucks, I have a PS4 pro.

They're not really different persay? Just more polished if that makes sense, it's not set in a NY winter anymore so that helps, there is also now a dynamic day night cycle and rain effects. I enjoyed it, it feels like a much more polished division on steroids, better animations, less clunky feeling, you get more skill access now, like you can have both a seeker drone and a turret through the upgrade tree/perk tree. Was a really solid closed beta. It seems to me DC is better designed map wise, more open buildings to cut through and usually find either loot in or story bits through phones etc, just an overall better design than the first game. I think I'll eventually snag it. Dark Zone is still not fun but they have other end game stuff planned which is fine with me.

The Division 1.5 Washington DLC.
Samey gameplay but the story seems to be worse than before. Cutscenes are uninspired.

Dag-Sabot 02-08-2019 06:09 PM

Also legacy bugs from the last one according to the initial reviews.

God this was one of the first things I noticed. They still have that damn bug where you can have crosshair line unobstructed but when you shoot you're shooting the wall you're hugging.

Did you expect the gameplay to be drastically different? I'm also sure the entire narrative must be bad based on two unconnected story missions from a small chunk of the game. Calling this 1.5 is really just wrong, I find the skill system and perk system alone leaps and bounds better over the first game.

I guess our definition of "leaps and bounds better" is very different.
If the 2 story missions they decided to put in this demo/preview/beta are bad, then yeah, I'll assume the rest of the game maintains this level of low quality.

But if it'll make you happier let's call it 1.6

Thanks, I'll definitely be getting it, sounds good. If anything, it'll be fun for some coop play throughs. Its hard for me not to buy a game now if it doesn't have coop. I didn't want more "end game" in the first division, I just wanted them to expand the map and give us more missions and places to explore.

But a bicycle to ride around on would have been cool lol

I'm taking it as a whole, it's not like the first game's missions were stellar story telling, it's a shooter looter. Imo the story here at least the setting is far better than say the nonsense that is something like Borderlands story wise. The animations are far better, the gun play feels better imo, kinda important in a shooter. The perks system imo is also better, being able to have both a turret and a seeker mine along with being able to add mods to that turret and seeker mine is an improvement. Overall? It's a much improved Division title. If that means it's 1.5 in your book? Fine, I think the overall experience and gun play is much better than it was in the first game. I think the map design is smarter both in and out of the missions as well. But that might be just me.

Played it. It's...The Division and more of it. Oh yay. Rather play anthem than division 1.5.
