Amazon Developing Event Horizon TV Series

Quote:

Amazon is expanding its partnership with Paramount TV with a series based on the 1997 movie Event Horizon.

Adam Wingard (2016's Blair Witch, the upcoming Godzilla vs. Kong) is attached as director and executive producer of the project, which is in development. Paramount TV is producing; the studio released the film, which was a flop in its time but has since acquired something of a cult following.

The movie, a blend of science fiction and horror, follows the crew of a spaceship called the Lewis and Clark, which in 2047 is sent on a rescue mission when another ship, the Event Horizon, suddenly appears in orbit around Neptune after disappearing seven years earlier. When the Lewis and Clark crew boards the ship, they find the Event Horizon crew massacred and start to experience disturbing visions tied to their own fears.

Paul W.S. Anderson directed Event Horizon from a script by Philip Eisner. The movie famously was rushed to release in August 1997 and was received poorly at the time, making $26.6 million in its theatrical run. It had a more successful second life on video.

I loved the movie... A little bit confusing but nevertheless great

Love this movie, my winter jacket has patches on it for the Lewis & Clark and the New Zeland flag that Dr. Weir wears in the movie.

Great movie. Looking forward to this.

A sci-fi gem, and one of my favorites. Excited for this!

Didn't like the movie, expecting the same quality from this latest version.

Hopefully the tv series will flesh out that Hellverse or whatever the heck the evil dimension was again.

Absolutely loved the film and it's probably my fav horror. (If you can call it a horror as I found it to be psychologically disturbing). After the usual cheap 'jump' scares it really got under my skin.

P.s. Maybe they'll finally release an un-cut version.

I have enjoyed this movie many times throughout the years. I remember pausing it and watching each frame during the sequence where they show what happened to the prior crew, wheres it's just a bunch of chaos and blood and body parts and screaming. It was just so crazy.

Anyways hell yeah I'm down for this, I like director Adam Wingard, and if this get popular maybe we'll get a game series back that was partially inspired by this movie: DEAD SPACE!

It’s a shame so much uncut footage was lost in a fire. The movie was good but was wasted by the studio.

That's exactly what I was thinking! :D

Or uncensored. There’s a few pictures on the internet showing how much creepy demented shit was lost. And a lot more backstory. A proper cut could have made an excellent movie.

Hope they take the chance to make this as good as it has potential.

This better be original cutting edge stuff, I expect minority women who are empowered to fight their emotional demons, while rejecting all objective truth to unveil that we don't need any men.

looking forward to this all the way

ElektroDragon 08-06-2019 11:23 PM

Loved the movie, but dislike Amazon and never paying for Prime again.

Hmm... The last time I watched this movie, my brain was melting due to some rather powerful LSD... Event Horizon is a good movie, so long as you aren't tripping your balls off.

I'll give this a watch when it releases.

good to mush with

QFT. Mandy was a crazy ass movie that should have never been made. But it worked.
