I, for one, don't think we really need a prequel to The Texas Chainsaw Massacre. Or, for that matter, another film in the series; it's been pretty well done to death by this point. Between the original three sequels, a remake, a new sequel and now a prequel...I can safely say I've seen enough of Leatherface and his family.

Could be interesting. I don't remember ever seeing much of his background before. Though once the tell the reason behind his insanity that should close the book on this monster.

No need to keep bringing him out; let him die finally.

It's no different than spending the first hour of the movie going into great detail regarding Michael Myer's origin in Rob Zombie's remake; it destroys the mystique of the character entirely.

We need some new horror villains, less reboots, and by that I mean better than the Bye Bye Man, etc..

Freddy, Jason, Leatherface, Michael Myers, et al were all cool in the 80/90's, but it's time to give us something fresh. Ah, who am I kidding?

Wait, wasn't there already got a prequel? And it was already subtitled "The Beginning". Now we get the beginning to the beginning? Or something?

Stephen Dorff peaked in 1994, and it's been a slow descent ever since.

Trailer is garbage and there's a very high chance that the movie will be too.

I've always loved Massacre I and II, especially II... Leatherface and his crew are based on my favorite psychopathic murderer, whats not to love? But I feel that every film in the franchise after the second one has been one failed attempt at recapturing lightning after another. This doesn't look to change that. Wrong tone, wrong mood, cherry-syrup blood, bla bla bla...

The connection between Ed Gein and Leatherface is about as loose as possible; Buffalo Bill from Silence of the Lambs would be much closer than any of the other characters based on the guy.

The entire Sawyer family was based on Gein, not just Leatherface. Tobe Hooper is on record stating that his inspiration for the Sawyer clan was Gein. Same is true of Norman Bates as well as Buffalo Bill.
