First Trailer for Stephen King's Mr. Mercedes

Quote:

The OFFICIAL TRAILER for the AT&T Original MR. MERCEDES is here! From Executive Producers Stephen King, David E. Kelley and Jack Bender comes the story of a demented serial killer who taunts a retired police detective with a series of lurid letters and emails. This forces the ex-cop to undertake a private, and potentially felonious, crusade to bring the killer to justice before he can strike again.

Catch the premiere on AUDIENCE Network August 9th at 8pm ET/PT on DIRECTV CH. 239, U-verse CH. 1114 or streaming on DIRECTV NOW.

I really enjoyed the Hodges Trilogy novels, I'm hoping this is worthwhile.

This is such an original idea. I've NEVER seen anything like this before where a cop fixates on the case that got away or the criminal latches on to the cop and taunts him/her.

Nope, totally original. Right James Patterson? And the other dozens of writers and tv shows that have done this story before?

An original from the mind of Stephen King. Whoop-tee-doo. I'm sure not going to get DirectTV to watch it so they've culled out a lot of people right there. An AT&T original production? Pretty ballsy move.

It's Stephen King, I presume the detective is inhabited by the killer's spirit after absorbing his essence through a cursed piece of evidence.

No, it's a fairly standard detective story, not horror. Or horror-detective.

Until the 3rd book when the psychic serial killer uses a Gameboy to control other people and then eventually uses it to move his soul from one body to another.

So, yea, that happened.
