Borderlands 3 has a Season Pass and Multiple Editions, including a $250 Chest

Borderlands 3 won't launch on Steam, but everything else about it is typical for a big budget PC game release, which means that of course there are four increasingly pricey editions to chose from.

The standard version will be $60, and just includes the game, though pre-ordering any edition gets you "gold weapon skins" and a "weapon trinket," which is presumably a trinket one puts on a weapon.

In the middle of the pack, the $80 Deluxe Edition and the $100 Super Deluxe Edition include a bunch of in-game cosmetics as well as XP and loot boosts. Here's what you get in both of them:
  • Retro Cosmetic Pack: Vault Hunter head &skin, Echo Device skin, weapon skin
  • Neon Cosmetic Pack: Vault Hunter head &skin, Echo Device skin, weapon trinket
  • Gearbox Cosmetic Pack: weapon skin, weapon trinket
  • Toy Box Weapon Pack: 2 Toy guns, Toy grenade mod, weapon trinket
  • XP & Loot Drop Boost Mods
The Super Deluxe Edition gets its 'super' by also including a "Butt Stallion weapon skin, weapon trinket, and grenade mod," as well as the season pass, which will unlock "four campaign DLC packs featuring new stories, missions and challenges." After launch, the Super Deluxe Edition will go from $100 to $120.

I have confirmed with 2K that the season pass will also be available as a separate purchase, and that each DLC pack will be sold individually. Pricing hasn't been determined yet for that.

For those not worried about pricing at all, the Diamond Loot Chest Collector’s Edition costs $250, and includes everything from the Super Deluxe edition, as well as a bunch of physical items: a loot chest replica, ten character figurines, a Sanctuary 3 ship snap model, four keychains, a "cloth galaxy map," five character art lithographs, and a Steelbook case.
PC Gamer.

Borderlands 3 is also an Epic Games store exclusive until April of 2020.

I will probably go for the $100 edition as long as you get a physical copy. If it's digital only, I might just go cheap and get the regular edition.

That wasn't April Fools? It's actually an Epic exclusive? Glad I consider the franchise dead after BL2.

Nope, not that I'm aware of. I'm getting it on the PS4 anyway so that doesn't impact me, but that's almost a year of being exclusive. Eight Months if the previous leaked release date of September 13th is real.

I've read 6 months, meaning it won't be on Steam until April 2020.

Bought the last two games on release and learned my lesson.

I'll pick up whatever GotY edition on PC they have with the DLC down the road. Who knows, might be on a good platform by then ^_^

dont know what it is but it just looks...blah.

A hard pass for me. Very uninteresting setting, characters.
Not even worth pirating

I am a big BL fan. IDK yet. I want more BL's and I want to vote with my dollars and get it day one to show my support of the IP,but 100 is alittle steep. Plus Epic's store isn't great.
I am glad somebody is pushing steam to be better. I just wish the Epic store had more basic features that other similar platforms have. Maybe by the time BL3 comes out Epic store will be better and most of my concerns will be gone.

Epic Exclusives are bringing some perspective on Epic's history in recent years. Tencent is making moves that seem worrisome in their implications.

They just announced the game and they already have the marketing strategy worked out? Sign of the times.

There is going to be so, so much porn with that female character in the screenshot. She looks like Ruby Rose mixed with a bohemian military officer.

This is where all the money from Aliens colonial marines went.

Fuck them for dirty practices like that, shame on them for what they did to aliens and sega.

And I love borderlands 2.

Played through a mission of Borderlands 2 yesterday with the new upgraded visuals patch on PS4. Looks good and runs well. But I maybe over their gameplay. Just felt very boring. I couldn't get into it at all. 3 so far looks like more of the same. Will have to wait to see what they did to liven up the series.

Went from pre-order the collectors edition and book holidays now to sitting on the fence regarding this with the Epic game store announcement. I just dont like the idea of further fragmenting my gaming library.

May still pick it up, may pick it up later on. But its not a lock anymore. Shame as Borderlands is one of my favourite series of all time

BeardedSonOfNel 04-04-2019 06:16 AM

I like BLs, so I'll pick it up, but I'll wait on the GOTY version.

Have you used it yet?

It's no where close to the hideous bloatware that is Origin or UPlay, it's actually not close to the exponentially better designed bloatware Steam. Click it, it opens fast and there are your games. The only reason I got it is because I picked Metro Exodus for my free game from the RTX bundle and that's what I needed, but honestly, with a couple minor tweaks I'd like it better than Steam.

I guess if you are into the XBox One style 'playing our interface is mandatory to get to your games, check out all these adds, here are your notifications, you have new items' type of experience, Steam is going to keep you happy. I just want to play my games.

You know you can add non Steam games to your Steam library? At least 3/4 of my games on Steam are from GOG, old adventure games, emulators and classic Doom mods.

Hellstorm 04-05-2019 10:36 AM

Heh, my only problem with the Epic Store is that if the store is anything like their dev forums, expect it to be hacked and your passwords to be stolen on a weekly basis.

Azrael 04-06-2019 12:49 AM

No havent used the Epic store, again dont want to fragment my gaming library. Timed exclusives can suck a dick.

Epic store is only reason I havent played Metro Exodus
