Yes, there is something to be said for a massive collection of digital only games, especially when it comes to handhelds. For sure!

Your collection is 100 x better! Rock on MJ!

My Gawd! I'm so happy that YouTube exists and I get to see things like this. That's the kind of game room I could NEVER have with the life I've chosen and it's just really cool seeing someone make it happen.

I could spend a lifetime in that room, MJ. *if I didn't have the life I have

So THANK YOU for sharing things like this.

Man...that's the platinum standard for a man cave! I wish I can do that...if only I can trade my wife, my two kids, my job...Heh heh!

Seeing as how eventually carts and cd/dvds go bad, it seems like digital only is the way to go. Though I would prefer it all be like GOG and DRM free.

Your debating the merits of digital vs physical in this thread?

Go on, take your pc, with rom sets, and 2000 steam games (which we all have here) and sit it in the middle of an empty room. See if you get the same effect as a setup like MJR's

Even if the media goes bad you still have the case, manuals, covers, ect ect. And Rom chips can be reproduced indefinitely if there is a demand for it. Some for disk based stuff which is why the case, covers and manuals are so important.

As for MJR's game room, i have one word. Home.

I have a dreamcast, original xbox and playstation, gamecube... in my head I had envisioned a pretty dope gameroom just like that, but then I got married and basically gave everything to my little brother to hopefully one day live on.

Im sorry you gave up on your vision. Maybe you should lock your wife in a cage and do your game room. She will respect you for it. Because if you keep failing her test you will end up a defeated, cheated on shell of a man after she is done with you.

He is building a huge collection, I'm trying to throw one away! Ha! I am seriously trying to cut out extra stuff. Comics, books, toys, old papers & hardware, I'm on a huge mission to trim everything back.

While it is still a way in the future, at some point here we will retire and move further north and I want to have a ton less junk to take with me when we move. If I'm not actively displaying it or playing it, it goes.

What? No, where did I debate anything? I simply opined that digital appears to be the way to go as eventually all physical games will be useless. I'm pretty sure I didn't say anything negative about that collection, but hey! Don't let that stop you from inventing stuff to be outraged about.

I'm still not much sold on digital-only, but when you look at the mountain of stuff that I need to get rid of, you can certainly win points for that side of the coin. I'm trying to figure out how to take an entire room full of junk and make it fit into a single closet.

If that isn't testifying for digital-only, I don't know what is. I certainly know that now that I read digital books I'll never go back to paper. Not having stacks and stacks of books lying around and still having all of them on one device is a win.

That's amazing, but...how many of those games can you actually play? And if that's the case (a low number of played games), then why bother? It's like I tell my wife, "If we've had it in a box for years, and don't even know what it is or use it, why are we keeping it?"

Then I put it back in storage, lol. Because I'm not stupid. ;)
