Witchfire - the latest info

Just over two years ago The Astronauts, creators of The Vanishing of Ethan Carter, a narrative-driven game, surprised fans by releasing a teaser of their next game, a looter-shooter named Witchfire. Besides the teaser, the developer's didn't reveal much about the game at the time.

A year later, at the end of 2018, they followed up with another touchpoint on their current progress.

Flash forward to today, and Witchfire is starting to take shape.

Updates have become irregular, meaning weíre busy making the game. So thatís a good thing, I guess. On the other hand, we donít want to work in a vacuum, so let me share some of the work we did in January.

Looks fun. I enjoyed bulletstorm and painkiller.

Looks good! Let's hope it has a good single player campaign/story. If it's MP only then pass...

It does look fun. I'd be curious to see what the skill system looks like.

Also, I never got around to playing Bulletstorm or Painkiller. Either of them worth a look?

Looks pretty damn cool to me. Any word on the platform(s)?

Absolutely. Painkiller was a game that was made to take people back to the deathmatch physics of Quakeworld. Unfortunately the multiplayer never caught on enough to find any decent pub matches. Single player is rather uninspired, but the weapons are fun and feel great.

Bulletstorm is definitely worth a playthrough. Rage stole a lot of the mechanics from it....It's got a story that is good enough to drive the upgrades in the gameplay. It's fun. Tell me what you think.

Painkiller was a blast, but the game is rather old now. Painkiller black edition is $10 bucks on Steam. You get a ton of great content and Old School action for the price. There was a remanke called Painkiller Hell & Damnation that doesn't have as many levels and they sold 7 or 8 DLC pacs. Both are fun. The newer game looks better and the older plays better. I have them both. Each is fun. If you pick them up, purchase during a Steam sale. Also, there are other painkiller games that are smaller and not as good. Stick with the Black Edition or Hell and Damnation.

I am interested in the game, once I saw the painkiller name pop up in the trailer.
