It's Sunday: What NFL Games Are You Watching?

Well the Viking's season is over, so I'm pretty much done with football for the year.

Is your team in the playoffs? If not are you still watching any games today?

Holding hopes the underdog magic is still strong for my Eagles. Should be a good game (I hope...), but know it just leads to a nigh impossible task the week after even if they win. Well...one game at a time eh...

Emabulator 01-06-2019 12:17 PM

We'll get them next year! Or not.

Well I suppose I should just be happy that my Eagles made it to the post-season despite all the injuries. Nobody expected us to be there. In the end the Bears defense was just too much to overc... wait... holy shit... whaaaaaat?!

GOOO EAGLES!!!

In all honesty, that kicker blew it. However, the Bears D held them to 16 points.

Sixteen.

Mitch Trubisky can't put up enough points.

The last field goal attempt was actually tipped, in all likelihood. It looks like a Philly player got just enough of a hand on it that it sent the kick into a "double doink" (Thank you, Chris Collinsworth, for your lovely commentary).
Regardless, the fact that the game came down to a game-winning field goal attempt is a failure by Chicago as a whole; they had a chance to stop Philly's go-ahead TD and the had plenty of opportunities to put more points on the board...but they didn't. Even if the ball hadn't been tipped, I have trouble blaming the loss on any single player...especially when that single player is the guy who put 9 out of their 15 points on the board. The entire team failed to do what they needed to do, plain and simple.

As much as I wanted to see the Eagles get knocked out of the playoffs, their victory means Dallas gets to go to LA as opposed to New Orleans. LA is obviously a good team, but they've shown more than a handful of cracks across their 13 wins. While Dallas has already beaten New Orleans once, I feel more comfortable with them heading to LA. Granted, this means they could end up having to go down there anyway...but, I'm not putting them in the NFC Championship game just yet. Of course, if Philly and Dallas both win, the championship would be in AT&T Stadium...but then Dallas would have to beat Philly for the third time in one season, which is hard for any team to pull off.

Sometimes, I think I enjoy playoff football a little more when my team isn't in the mix.

Sorry Chimpbot, the Cowgirls are going down to my Rams...

Also pulling for a Clemson win tonight over AFC South winner Alabama.

It'll be a good game, either way. Regardless, I'm not overconfident in their ability to beat the Eagles for a third time or the Saints a second time...but I'd be thrilled to see them back in the NFC Championship game after all these years.

That was a brutal doink doink for Bears fans. Jets fans have been there many times.

Don't let us down, Rivers. The fate of the universe rests on your shoulders.

Here here! I'll be a chargers fan for a day!

I always have to preface these posts with the information that I am not a Patriots or Brady fan. But I feel compelled to root for him as long as the Giants aren't in the picture. The hate he gets just makes me want him to win more for some reason. And of course, the more he wins, the more I know it especially bothers the "Aaron Rodgers is the GOAT!" people. :p

EDIT: Then again, I also love Rivers. He's served faithfully on many of my fantasy teams over the years and he's supposedly a good Catholic dude. I an't not like that.

People love to hate success. Still not watching the NFL, no reason to, millionaires who compare themselves to being slaves don't deserve any support.

There's that, for sure.

I also remember a time when most people in my neck of the woods didn't give a shit about the Patriots and their memory of the team only goes back to 2001. My desire to see the Pats lose stems more from the obnoxious, insufferable fanbase and not the team itself. Last season, I was actually hoping the Pats would win the Super Bowl, mainly because I didn't want to see the Eagles walk away with a win. Plus, it would have been a historical moment for the sport.

I hate the fans more than I hate the organization. I don't even really dislike the team...but the team I've been following for 30-ish years only has to deal with the Pats once every four or five years, so there's that.

Still, I don't agree with calling Brady the greatest of all time, mainly because of how much the game has changed over the years. Things have become increasingly easier for offenses even since the 90's, so the sort of stats and performances you're seeing from QBs now are artificially better. The game was much harder for guys like Bradshaw and Staubach - or even Aikman and Elway - than it is for guys like Brady or Rodgers.

Greatest of this era? Sure. We can talk about that.
Greatest of all time? I don't think we could really call anyone that.

Oh I do agree with that. I'm not arguing for Brady to be considered to be the greatest of all time. However, I think it's an absolute joke to call Rodgers the GOAT. He's not even the greatest now (yes I know he has a couple of impressive stats.) That's why I like Brady being in that conversation.

Go Rivers. Beat the Deflatriots. :D
