It looks like a lot of Next Generation fan service. I was never a huge fan of Next Generation. It was something that was on and I watched it, but it was just that some Star Trek is better than no Star Trek and that was about as far as it went. The fact that 90% of the problems were solved with last minute Sci Fi doublespeak makes it almost unwatchable these days.

I will probably check this out for a few Episodes, but after Discovery I am not enthusiastic. I didn’t even finish watching Season 2 of Discovery it was so bad.

Eh, I'll watch it when it comes out for free... and I can see all the episodes at one time.

CBS hasn't figured out that once a week airings so last century.

On the other Game of Thrones gave everyone a week of suspense and water cooler talking points. Tons of effort were spent speculating the who/what/where/when of the next big chess move of that series.

Star Trek: Discovery doesn't generate nearly a smidgen of that buzz and if Picard doesn't then CBS should reevaluate.

They need to develop 10 top shows or so that way each month they can drop a new, binge-able series like Amazon and Netflix.

I did have one issue with Discovery... pacing.

Full throttle episodes, which weren't bad, with the slow moments coming within the hectic moments. Being attacked? Let's have a conversation about what's moral. or ask a stupid question.

Moments that needed space had little to no space. Plus, which is possibly the biggest annoyance, is Burnam's near constant, 'angst/disgusted/shocked' face. It became silly after awhile.

Captain Christopher Pike (Anson Mount) NEEDS his own ST show. Absolutely fantastic character that made all the others look like some type of stand ins.

This. He was really the only actor last season. It was his show all the way. If they don't do a series with him as Pike they really don't have a clue what they are doing.

CBS/Paramount has long shown us they have no clue what they're doing with the Trek IP.

This is true. It's been a long time since Star Trek was really "good". It's been one average quality series after another on top of average quality movies.

It's like Star Wars in that respect... the original is really the only thing worth watching.
