CBS today revealed the first official Star Trek: Discovery photo, which you can view in the gallery below. The photo features Sonequa Martin-Green as First Officer Michael Burnham and Michelle Yeoh as Captain Philippa Georgiou.

Yes, this photo totally inspires me to sign up for your pay service to see this instead of just pirating it.

Terran 05-17-2017 10:54 AM

Michelle Yeoh of Arabia! I preferred Lawrence...that was a great film. ;)

GinRummy 05-17-2017 10:58 AM

Looks like their first Discovery was of the Planet of Asian People. :)

Good thing those women are all covered up. We wouldn't want any outrageous titillation.

IGotMoose 05-17-2017 12:16 PM

So ... the new Star Trek is Star Wars? That's totally Rey and a Jedi.

Snooze button pressed hard.

UttiniDaKilrJawa 05-17-2017 12:35 PM

I'll see it when it hits DVD.

Until I read the headline I thought it was a promo shot for something Star Wars. For this reason alone I don't understand how they let this through.

Do they really think that people will sign up for their crappy service just because of this one title, with that crappy trailer?

Mad Max RW 05-17-2017 04:58 PM

Just watched the new trailer. It's watchable if you mute it and close your eyes. You're going to have to close your eyes because there's so much fucking lens flare.

If the title of the story hadn't been "Photo of Star Trek" that photo could be of anything.

I think "dinosaurs" before I think "Star Trek". Maybe that's closer anyway because making this show the flagship of their online pay service is the fastest way to make both the series and the service go extinct quick, fast, and in a hurry.

Especially if this is the best they can release for the first official photo.

Is the target demographic Asian women? Or men that like Asian women? I'm really confused there isn't even a star treck logo anywhere in the photo. I would have thought this was either a new star wars or a dune remake. Terrible promo shot

karaliusbronius 05-17-2017 07:04 PM

I love Star Treck.

Hey, how could anyone not like (or at least respect) Michelle Yeoh? She's been (quite literally) kicking ass for more than 30 years now!

Of course, like most people, I immediately assumed this was Star Wars, especially after Rogue One featured Donnie Yen. However, that would have made sales of Disney action figures awkward after the inevitable Star Wars/Guardians of the Galaxy cross-over. ;)
