Chris Cornell dead at 52

via NY Times

Quote:

Chris Cornell, the powerful, dynamic singer whose band Soundgarden was one of the architects of grunge music, has died at 52.

Mr. Cornell died Wednesday night in Detroit, his representative, Brian Bumbery, said in a statement that called the death “sudden and unexpected” and that said the singer’s family would be “working closely with the medical examiner to determine the cause.”
On a personal note, it feels like part of my childhood is dead today. RIP Chris, you were one of my favorite singers of all time.

Yeah... hated reading about this this morning.

I'm a big fan of Soundgarden's music from the late 80's up through the mid 90's. Very talented singer/songwriter. Gonna miss him.

Suicide...I'm sure his fans would like to know if there was any kind of public note or message from him to give some context to the 'why' on many of their minds.

Another part of my teen years returns to dust. Chris's voice was unique.

Think I'll spend the weekend in the Soundgarden.

Too soon, too soon.

It's a sad day with this news. Have been a fan since the early 90's, heck, maybe even the late 80's, I can't remember....lol

I saw the Louder than Love tour and last year with NIN. We lost a passionate singer and songwriter, and he will be missed and remembered long after today. Grunge was a special yet short burst of inspiration from the 90's that still sounds better than modern music for the most part.

The sun rises and the sun sets for us all. Live in Joy always.

All of the singers from my favorite bands in the 90s are now dead. Soundgarden being my favorite. Really hit me pretty hard today. More than I thought. I guess Soundgarden was something I played a lot during my angsty teen years. Unfortunate that he took himself out, the darkness won.

Can't believe he is gone, one of my favorites for sure.

RIP Chris

Fuck. They headlined at a concert I went to a couple weeks ago, but my buddies were ready to leave so we skipped out before they came on. Really kicking myself now :(

It's not suicide, it's auto erotic asphyxiation, just like Robin Williams and Keith Caradine. He was master bating in a hotel bathroom with a belt around his neck.

What a silly way to die.

While looking to verify this claim, I stumbled across the following:

Chokey-Strokey
asphixiwank

Sad either way.

Who gives a shit how he died as long as he wasn't hurting anyone? WTF is wrong with you? The man is dead, but by all means, keep making yourself feel superior to someone who has achieved more success than you will EVER achieve artistically or professionally. I can't fucking mute you either... fuck this shit.

He used a red exercise band, a climbing carabiner and the bathroom door to hang himself. He wasn't found with a belt around his throat.

If you want to think he died jerking off, that's on you.

I was all into this video. And then Dave started to sing it. Just a tragic offering to the recently departed.

Varek 05-20-2017 08:17 AM

Yeah speculating that he was wacking off is kind of low, sorry Evil have to call it as I see it. Show a little more respect for the dead.
