Latest Windows 10 Update Has Broken Multi-Screen Gaming #Win10 #Microsoft

TweakTown has the story.

Quote:

Microsoft has just released its new Cumulative Update for Windows 10 (KB3213986) which has broken multi-screen gaming, with the company noting that there are "known issues".

This means gamers that are running triple-display setups with AMD EyeFinity and NVIDIA Surround Sound will experiencing stuttering or clipped screens when running a game, but it should be fine in 2D applications. There's a workaround for this issue, with Microsoft adding that gamers can run their 3D apps in non-fullscreen mode - either in window-maximized, or just windowed modes.

But it gets better. Microsoft suggests that gamers disconnect their other displays, leaving just a single display connected to the PC for the game to work. Because, you know - that's why you spend thousands of dollars for the bleeding edge of high-end gaming, to disconnect those expensive LCDs.

With Microsoft, it always does! Sweet! ;)

Aaaand I just deployed this update to half a million people. Hope no one has a multi-monitor setup! :D

Surely this is an nVidia/AMD driver thing that will be updated wit their next update? Surely there's a reason why this happened? Security etc?

More information is required.

Of course. The reason is it's Microsoft.

I love how they advise people on how to deal with the issues they create as if it isn't an issue: you can't play on multi-screens, so why not just play on one? Who cares that you've invested in a multi-screen setup and want a multi-screen experience.

Of course it will eventually get fixed....but it's nonetheless amusing.

Good thing I never updated Seven to Ten. Thought 10 would be a piece of shit cash grab and enforcing their bullshit UWP nonsense.

Microsoft has been fucking up Windows 10 CONSTANTLY.

They really need to reassess how they choose what updates are rolling out... The test is obviously not sufficient.

I have an older rig, and I am troubleshooting a crash at boot once every 3 or so months because of a Windows update gone wrong.

They are finally allowing you to delay updates, but no more than 30 days....

My son just rolled back to 7. I would never have updated to 10, except that 10 is required for future Microsoft games. I kinda wish I hadn't upgraded. My mouse has never worked right under 10.

Haters gonna' hate!

Of course, with stuff like this, there's good reason, lol.

@Evilavatar - take a look here
http://www.makeuseof.com/tag/finally...-mouse-issues/

I had a few similar issues on my older ASUS rig, and with some monotonous testing and tweaking, I was able to fix them.

On a side note - I had an issue a few weeks ago where Edge was suddenly my default web browser... I laughed and changed it back to Chrome. They are resorting to virus/adware type crap to push their products....

Oh yea, I'm getting really sick of seeing them push Edge every few times I start up Firefox (which I only use for a few things).
