Mass Effect 3: The Dream

I told you not to eat Taco Bell before going to bed Shep!

Sammael 03-09-2012 06:45 AM

Is it just me, or are they turning Shepard into a wuss? I feel like I am halfway through the game and I have barely done anything bad ass. Plus someone eluded to Shep being afraid... Sorry, but I don't think this was the Shepard I was looking for.

The Shep I remember didn't give two shits about anything except for the mission. Why am I being forced to change now?

Dag-Sabot 03-09-2012 07:14 AM

I just assume he's a space-homo.

It seems Bioware made a lot of choices for you in the third entry. Yeah, they made seem like YOU did, but not really.

Take The Arrival DLC for example. Even if you haven't played it in ME 2, ME 3 says you did.

lockwoodx 03-09-2012 07:59 AM

I don't see much point in video game characters dreaming.

SaintBlitzkrieg 03-09-2012 08:27 AM

I understand the effect they are trying to convey on this. That Shepard has changed due to all the deaths. Anyone would seeing all their friends and comrades dying, but still its kind of lame.

Duskfire 03-09-2012 08:34 AM

He has just seen Earth put up zero resistance against the Reapers, had to leave knowing that potentially millions are dying hourly, to try and get help from races who are too busy trying to preserve their own interests. There is little hope to win, only to fight and die trying. So yes, he has changed somewhat. That would change anyone.

MrButtons 03-09-2012 08:38 AM

Yeah I totally believe him being affected by it. I find it realistic as well, all of that death, drama and battle weariness can bring anyone down.

I was tempted to record that exact scene but mostly to make fun of him chasing after the kid like a pedo, especially after watching Robbaz on youtube make a ME3 character. lol

SaintBlitzkrieg 03-09-2012 08:48 AM

I dont find it so much of a dream as it is a haunting.

MrWheeler460 03-09-2012 08:56 AM

I thought the music when Shepard leaves Earthin the beginning was really good.

There were some powerful scenes throughout the whole game. Some where I was like "wow that sucks". But some of the music was spot on.

ME 3 had many interesting moments where all you got to do was literally walk around. And don't forget cut scenes where you literally watch folks die who if you were allowed to play the game with the powers you have, they would not have died. It's still ME, so it's way better than most other games, but it seems like they phoned the plot in.

The latest press release from EA:
GUILDFORD, UK. – March 9, 2012 – USA Today proclaims it is “the first true blockbuster game of the year.” Game Informer says BioWare delivers “one of the most intricately crafted stories in the history of the medium.” Already having earned over 30 perfect scores and an average review score of 95*, enthusiasm for Mass Effect™ 3, the latest title from BioWare, a Label of Electronic Arts, is at an all-time high. Over 3.5 million units of the award-winning game have already shipped worldwide in its first week of release, making Mass Effect 3 the first pop culture event and the biggest entertainment launch of 2012.

The system includes the franchise debut of co-operative multiplayer, as well as the latest iOS exclusive app, the cover-based, third-person shooter, Mass Effect Infiltrator. They heap praise until the wet fart ending that they leave you with. They leave you with a feeling of "Really, thats what I strived to achieve thru these 3 games. That was my ending"

earthworm48 03-09-2012 04:00 PM

The game was very good apart from the endings, they are just terrible, esp at the end of a trilogy like ME.

Over on the BW forums its a big deal, theres a thread with over 600 pages now and a poll were about 85% of people are complaining about the ending and trying to get some kind of change, but no response from Bioware. I'm wondering if they've left it like this to entice DLC purchases at a later date.

Bugsplatter 03-09-2012 04:35 PM

wow the 3rd person camera really does make that look like some dudes run-around-newb-killing vldeo set to dance music on youtube, doesn't it? That might actually be the worst professional promo video i've ever seen.

Nevermind, remind me to pay attention to what i'm watching before i post!

Major Scud 03-13-2012 09:04 PM

My guess is that there will be some multiplayer DLC (maps, characters, guns), maybe another mission/character that takes place before the ending, but an actual ending is probably not going to happen.

MrWheeler460 03-13-2012 09:37 PM

I haven't finished it yet but so far it's the best in trilogy in my opinion. Whether I'll feel that way after I finish it remains to be seen though.
