Survarium Details

DSO Gaming has some info about Survarium, the spiritual successor to the S.T.A.L.K.E.R. series.

Quote:
Survarium will be a story driven MMOFPS and will not feature a seamless big world. Survarium is going to be a session-based game and Vostok Gamesí plan is to constantly expand the number of new locations in the game.

As the team said, many of the game elements will be in common, such as survival, anomalies, factions, mutants. However, there wonít be any kind of Offline or Single Player mode to it.

The developers have also made it clear that survival is a key aspect of the project and it will take a priority over just shooting anything that moves. Players can expect traps, anomalies, unexpected enemy actions, weird and dangerous mutants and much, much more.

Survarium will be powered by a new, in-house game engine, and there will be an open beta test for it at a later date.

Lots of survival games coming out these days. I'll pass on this one probably but "The Last of Us" Naughty Dog is working on shows a lot of promise. Plus they have good karma built up with me from 2 amazing Drake games and 1 OK one.

Sounds interesting, but I've never been a big fan of MMOFPS games. In the end they all end up being just a bland shooter with no suspense. I'd be much more interested if they focused on the tactical elements, such as teamwork items boosted stats. I'm not saying this should be another Borderlands of loot, but still have a focus on finding decent loot that is rare and hard to find (forcing the player to explore).

Co-op has to be the absolute focus, covering each other and making a difference in the team, not just another gun shooting.

3 Ok games that everybody seems to love. I am getting The Last of Us regardless of how average it might me. This is the first AAA zombie type game as far as I am concerned.

Stalker Single player - Success
Stalker 2 Single player - Success
Stalker 3 MMOFPS - FAIL

Cause all i want to do in my limited game time is talk to 12 year old nubs whose idea of fun is ganking other nubs and wiping group quests for kicks.
