Rumor: Battlefield 4 Features Greater Character Customization and a "Injuries System"

According to the above Battlefield 4 ad (full size version here), there will be new customization options that allow players to edit their face and gender, meaning female soldiers will appear in a Battlefield game for the first time. There is also a new "injuries and suppression system" which will probably set off red flags for those who hate Battlefield 3's suppression.

Do you have a source for that image, because it looks and sounds very fake.

You know, I used to really like the Battlefield games. . . it was around BF3 that I just got tired of military shooters and stopped buying any of them. I've still played the CoD games at friend's houses (at least the multiplayer), but it's been about 5 years since I owned one.

yay to injuries. tired of "terminator syndrome"(players soaking up bullets due to lag) in shooters.

But does it have dogs, that are modeled from scans of real dogs in the world, because that is what really matters !!!

I guess it could be fake, but other than gender and injuries everything on there sounds like typical marketing stuff. Commander mode has been known about since last month from some Gamestop promo material in addition to Sony's German Facebook page. http://mp1st.com/2013/04/14/battlefi...able-factions/

Sounds interesting. I however don't think I will be getting this one. Hoping for a different era shooter, tired of modern.

It sounds cool, but I'd have to echo the sentiments of many here regarding shooters in a modern setting. Not saying I won't get this title, but certainly not at launch. And the title needs in-game voice support for PC. Not having that is ludicrous.

Firstly, DICE has previously stated that there are no playable female characters in either MP or SP.

Secondly, given the extent to which DICE dumbed down BF3, I very much doubt they are going to be adding complexities by incorporating a 5th class and injury system.

Yeah, they confirmed no playable women multiple times, they'd have to have really changed that up.

5 classes sounds like the nonsense that people have been demanding on the boards rather than something DICE would do. Too many "split assault and medic" posts from the people who only play metro 24/7 and hate on "medic trains". Don't get why people think having fewer classes means dumbing down. Better to have a modular system with fewer bases and more options than to have a bunch of narrow presets that you can't do anything with. The complexity would be in balancing a modular system, adding more base presets is a way of removing complexity (dumbing it down).

'Injuries' sound odd too. Only games I've seen bother with injuries are sims and crappy server mods (You dropped your gun when you got shot! You'll bleed out if you don't shout "MEDIC!" It's sooo reeeaaall!!). They've already said they don't want the game to be overly sim, seems like an odd thing for them to shoot for. If they could pull off an interesting injury system though, might be worth a try.

It never works though. Well outside of Red Orchestra but only because it's so sim getting shot once and not dying doesn't really matter.

Every other time it just means you get worse aim and move slower... innovation. Of course it can all be fixed by sticking a needle in your leg.
