It's Super Bowl Sunday: Who Do You Got?

I have no dog in this fight, so I really don't care who wins. My team, the Carolina Panthers, got routed in the first round of the playoffs. Honestly, I'm just hoping for a descent game. That said, if I HAD to pick a team, I'll probably go for New England because that's where my wife is from and we are die hard Red Sox fans. Hope everyone has a safe Super Bowl and bring on baseball season!!

Per the preview ...

Quote:
Is there much left to say about this Super Bowl #rematch? The New England Patriots are back where they belong, in the big game for the eighth go-around this millennium. The Philadelphia Eagles, for the first time since Bill Belichick's first dynasty shuttered their dreams for a first Lombardi Trophy in 2005. The jersey colors are the same, but other than that, there is little that links this title game to Super Bowl XXXIX. That is except for one player and one coach.

After those cheaters got caught red handed with the deflated balls they shouldn't have even been qualified to play in that super bowl. I hope they get humiliated today.

I'm watching for the ads. If the game happens to be good; well that's a bonus.

Science disagrees with the notion that it was done intentionally. Everyone also loved to overlook the notion that Aaron Rodgers regularly had Green Bay's game balls overinflated - which was just as much of a rules violation - and no one batted an eye. There was no grand cheating conspiracy.

I'm no Patriots fan, but the "dey dun CHEETED" shit is tired and played out.

Yeah, I admit it was pretty lame stuff, but it wasn't the first time the team has been caught out. It was like the third time, after filming opposition practices and other earlier stuff I forget.

Stealing opponents play sheets was a big one. More listed in here:

I don't see Tom Brady losing today. Also, I really don't like the Eagles. Tough to root for either team.

I'm not Patriots sympathizer by any means (life-long Broncos fan here), but I will never disrespect their talent. The "OMG Patriots are cheaters they are the worst!" mentality though is getting pretty old to me, too. Pretty sure lots of teams attempt and/or succeed with some cheating every season. The Patriots just happened to get caught. When you're at the top of the league for so long, there are just more eyes on you.

For this Super Bowl? I think the Patriots will take it pretty easily. Doesn't matter to me either way since my team isn't in it. I just want to see a great entertaining football game.

This also might be worth a look. Not sure of the facts on all these since I just found it myself, but it's an interesting read none the less.

I'm convinced that the Patriots cheating comes to light because the NFL wants a villain. Villains get people invested in games. From what I've read and heard over the years, they weren't doing anything that other teams haven't done regularly over the years. I don't like it but I also hate the selective outrage. As for today's game, I'm pulling for the Patriots. I'm a Giants fan so I have no trouble with them winning today, knowing that my team drove a dagger through their heart twice in recent history.

First Super Bowl I'll skip in my entire life. Not interested in a bunch of overpaid hacks complaining about their terrible lot in America, nor in the league that allows them to project that kind of attitude while reaping the bounty possible from living in a great nation like ours.

Fuck 'em. Got other plans!

I have $500 on the Pats giving up -5.5 and $500 on the over (48). Hoping both pay off!

Tough call for me. I'm a Jets fan, so I hate the Patriots with a passion. On the other hand I went to an Eagles game once in Philly years ago, and ran across their fans many times at Jets and Giants games. Like I said, tough call. Arch rival vs. want to shoot the mother f***ers!

As a die-hard Eagles fans, easy call for me here. Hoping we can give those elitist Patriots something different to look down their noses at today.

And after report after report over the years of Patriots cheating, logic would say they probably have cheated. But at this point, I too am tired of hearing about it. Let's just play the game already.

like that even matters, these guys all watch game tape all week long to prepare for games, they're not seeing anything you don't see in game tape.

Tuck it Tommy showing up to the big game in one of Hilary Clinton's coats. Really hugs the hips. Dig the shades, though. I think he found them in the same place he got the coat.

Good game!

I thought the Eagles played really really well. That defense is amazing!

They did benefit from a obviously blown official review on the non-TD play. But the Patriots were only penalized like once or twice to the Eagles seven or eight penalties.

Congrats, Eagles fans!
