Dafuq did I just watch? I did not get a BG&E vibe from that at all. Not even a little.

It's a prequel, but they're slapping a "2" at the end? And, not to be a prude, but there was a shitload of swearing in that trailer. The first one was a fairly kid-friendly game.

They made it clear in the press conference this game has a political slant to it. It's not one for the kids.

Absolutely no gameplay and there was some gibberish about people helping them to build the game?
Cool CGI trailer seems like a Guardians of the Galaxy thing going on but CGI trailers are pretty much irrelevant IMO.

It's a cool trailer and I'm hopeful, but this does have the standard Ubi online world interactions. I'm not sure how that will translate for this kind of game.

Man, I really wish they had shown some gameplay. There was some in-engine stuff that was playing in the background as Michel Ancel was talking, so I would have loved to see where they were going gameplay wise.

But just knowing how much they put into the cinematic makes me optimistic that the game will be good, or at least, properly supported this time.

I think it makes sense. If you look at it, who is going to be interested in this game? Not really new players, but the people who played it 15 years ago. So the switch to being more hard-edge (language, violence, plot) is more representative of the demographic of the player who would be interested in a sequel because of how much time has passed since the original release and the new game.

It's weird that they decided to make it a prequel when the first one was specifically set up to end on a cliffhanger for a sequel.
It's weird that they decided to make it an "adult game" when the first one really was more of nintendo style family friendly game, with a bit for all audiences.
It's bad that they've already stated that the game has a political slant to it. The black lives matter angle is going to get pushed hard, based on that trailer, and a lot of gamers have gotten fed up with the pushing of real world politics in games.

I really don't know what to this of this.

I'm happy the series is continuing.

I'm liking the fifth element feel.

This does not feel like a BG&E game.

No gameplay.

Do not like the prequel aspect, I wanted the original story to continue. A lot of what made the original so great where the characters.

Lets hope it doesn't embarrass the original.

Ubisoft fucks up another franchise and probably in the name of diversity.

I really can't understand what's wrong with all the game companies.

You need to be very very skilled, very very talented and very very good to enter one of these companies. An average CV is not enough.

However, all these big companies act like they are being directed by most idiotic people on the world...

We were waiting for Beyond Good & Evil 2 for years. The teaser was out ten years ago. We wanted characters, story and musics of the original game.
Yet after all these years, they cancelled that game, instead they came with a completely new game, and completely different characters.
And they put "Beyond Good & Evil 2" title on this game.

People are not fan of an IP just because the words look cool. People are fan of an IP because the content inside.

Yet, big companies love to use a "famous" IP just to promote their new idea.

OK, that idea may be good. But what about the fans?

Who cares, right? Just give us that melting chocolate, and watch us destroy the environment.
As long as the game sells, companies like Ubisoft will not even care.

And this is one of the end results of such company view.

Oh good, a politically infected follow-up to a title remembered fondly based upon gamers' faulty, sentimental memories of an extremely mediocre initial title. I. CAN'T. WAIT.

lol.

Watching live I had no idea what the fuck it was until the end. For all I could tell it was a commercial for socks. Are they really following the BLM agenda? A game about monkey people? Nope, that won't backfire. I can already hear the excuses.

Watching this, I realize I must have missed everything important about the world of BGE1.
I mean, this is incredibly creative and fascinating. I think I'm gonna need a world intro movie to explain it all.

Wow, that has NOTHING to do with the original. It also looks nothing like what little was shown previously. I assume this is the third time they've restarted development and we get... this curse laden PREQUEL to a game, mediocre and bland though it may have been, that demanded a SEQUEL!

Well done, gentlemen.

If they are using ape people to represent "minorities" I can only imagine the outrage.

I'm sort of interested in this just because I've heard about part 1 forever. I have the HD version on XB1, but never played it. I remember many times X-play and AOTS talked about how they hoped for a sequel.

I'd rather have G4TV back. But I should play the first game since it's on my HDD.

The decision to make a prequel really isn't all that weird, given the fact that the original game was released 14 years ago and most people in 2017 know it by reputation only. Releasing a prequel enables them to appeal to a much broader audience, as opposed to primarily those who played the original; considering the previous one ended on a cliffhanger, a sequel could be a tough sell for all of the people in 2017 who never played the first one.
