Conarium for PS4 and Xbox One Launches February 12th

Conarium Out on February 12 for PS4 & Xbox One

Developer Zoetrope Interactive and publisher Iceberg Interactive are thrilled to announce that cosmic horror game Conarium will be available on Tuesday, 12 February for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. Powered by Unreal Engine 4, Conarium brings astonishing visuals for a more immersive storytelling and gaming experience.

Prepare for a gripping horror adventure involving four scientists and their endeavor to challenge what we normally consider to be the ‘absolute’ limits of nature. Inspired by H.P. Lovecraft’s 1935 novella “At the Mountains of Madness”, but largely set in the aftermath. Explore the Antarctic base, as well as dreams and visions. Study clues, unlock secrets but avoid macabre beings at all cost or get ready to lose your mind...

Iceberg Interactive CEO Erik Schreuder says: “Conarium is the first Iceberg game to be simultaneously released on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One and signifies a unique moment for us, as our 10-year-anniversary approaches. Conarium has already been widely praised by the fans of the cosmic horror genre, yet the enhanced console edition takes the experience to a whole new level.”

Zoetrope Interactive adds: “Conarium is an immersive experience, and being able to play it on your TV while lounging in a big chair or on your couch, with the lights turned down and your speakers up, is the way we envisioned it before development even started. PlayStation 4 Pro and Xbox One X enhancements and HDR support make it even better. We hope you enjoy playing Conarium as much as we enjoyed creating it.”

Stay up-to-date with the latest Conarium news and information at conariumgame.com.

Key Features

• A deep and suspenseful homage to H. P. Lovecraft with many secrets and Easter eggs.

• Ominous and wonderful graphics created using the Unreal 4 engine.

• Multiple endings.

• A haunting and atmospheric soundtrack.

Looks great, but awful title for a game. The tile is sure to result it in being overlooked. Not catchy, sort of meaningless. I hate how games like this now have to self-publish! Games like this USED to be backed by major publishers even if they were not AAA sellers. Now all you get is:

1) Free MMO clones by the bucketful
2) Battle Royale clones
3) COD/Battlefield ad infinatum
4) Open world story based game, BUT ONLY if its an established franchise with at least 10 games under its belt!
5) Pixelated indie drivel
6) Games like this made by a talented team... that USED to get big publisher support but now have to do everything on their own as if they were 10MB pixel crap done by 1 dude.

That's literally all we get now on consoles unless it comes from an in-house studio owned by the big 3. It's getting worse. Before about 2 or 3 years ago, you would SOMETIMES get a game like Shadow of Mordor. But if Shadow of Mordor were to come out today instead of 2014, I don't think anyone would bother publishing it, and it would have to go the route of this Conarium. And that's a shame because a game like this could really use big publisher support and funding to really shine. A publisher not interested in adding lootboxes, at least.

I have heard that the console market peaked around 2010 and is now in decline. Is it any wonder that circa 2010 we also had the MOST game variety and there were so many games like Conarium being put out by smaller studios but with full major publisher support? I think not.
Proud to be perma-banned 5 times on NeoGAF.

Because it's a shit platform. Most young adults don't want a freaking console, they want a phone (something actually useful!) and a tablet or PC. Any gaming they do will generally be of the light variety on a mobile device (phone) or on a computer.
