Talented people don't generate shit. Untalented people often hide behind or among those with talent.

But you go right on giving him verbal fellatio, lol, maybe even a swallow or two in person!

Sure they do.

No one is capable of knocking it out of the park every single time. Even highly successful authors are capable of, say...producing extraordinarily terrible movies...

Sometimes, shitty things get made by even the most talented.

King is a talented author and remained a talented author despite an average-to-poor attempt at directing. That's not the same thing as getting kicked out of Epic games after a huge flop, then going on to make two more flops in a row.

What was his flop? The last game he was credited on at Epic was Gears of War 3...and I'd hardly call that one a flop.

Regardless, that's not really the point. In response to what Terran said, even the most creative, talented people can create something pretty shitty.

Yes he has a flamboyant public persona. Yes he drove around in a grotesque green lambo. No he didn't get fired from Epic.

But he is also (mostly) genuine in his love for games, the industry, and the people who play the games. In the time I knew him and all the times he went to Comic-cons and presented at E3s (and I sat around with him in a lot of greenrooms which is actually super boring) he rarely scripted what he said. He'd have bullet points but he rarely needed the teleprompters.

He loves his attention, most people do though some, like Peter Molynoux and Tim Shaffer seem like they can barely tolerate us, but of the fancy pants "names" I've worked with over the course of 20 years in games, Cliff may be the one who was most like a regular gamer living the dream.

At least till Bosskey. I sort of lost track of him after the Gears of War days went by...

It's sad to see him lose this venture and the people lose their jobs but the good ones will go to Epic and the others will land somewhere, I'm sure. Insomniac has offices there as does Red Storm and there's other tech companies in the Triangle for people not great at games development.

Life goes on and Lawbreakers and whatever "me too!" BR clone he was trying to make weren't doing it. Gamers need more these days, or less as minecraft shows us.
I just want ya to know I read this and it makes a lot of sense and proves he is the gamer living the dream that let things go to his head. He made the right moves at the right time but it doesn't mean every thing he touches is gold that'd be thinking the detroit red wings were going to hold the stanley cup forever during their dynasty days.

Bulletstorm. It cost Epic gobs of money to develop, CliffyB was behind the whole project and then they showed him the door after it crashed and burned.

Agreed. Talent doesn't guarantee success especially in a creative field where public perception plays such a big part.

No, you wrong.

Cliff worked at Epic for almost two years after Bulletstorm released (Feb 2011), through Gears of War 3 (September 2011), and most of Gears of War: Judgment.

He didn't leave Epic until October 2012.

Like Cliff.
Everyone produces stinkers, even the best, brightest, and most talented. I mean...there's simply no denying this. No one is capable of producing amazing quality stuff 100% of the time. Every creator has their "worst" project.

So, they showed him the door...a year and a half after Bulletstorm was released and a year after Gears of War 3 - one of their most successful games - was released?

Except: Charlie Daniels, the Eagles, Lynard Synard, Derek Smart, Terry Goodkind and Bruce Willis and Tom Cruise. Lol. I've been up for 16 hours with 4 hours of sleep and I am good and buzzed

Both of those movies are awesome. Who doesn't like watching Jack Black get his arm shot off or 1980s Tom Cruise overacting?
