Kong Climbs to the Top of the Weekend Boxoffice Chart
It was a battle of the beasts at the box office this weekend, and King Kong emerged as the definitive victor over Wolverine. Kong: Skull Island amassed $61 million in its first weekend in theaters, surpassing expectations and easily beating out Logan, which is now in its second weekend.
Here is the Weekend Boxoffice Chart for the weekend of March 10th to March 12th, 2017.
I saw it yesterday with my son. I liked it a hell of a lot more than I liked Logan.
We saw Logan over the weekend and were pretty happy with it. It is a bit of a "finale" for the X-Men films (even though you know they will make more and they shouldn't, they should go for a total reboot).
I think we are going to see Kong on Saturday with my Dad and my Sister. Should be a good time!

Want to see Kong, didn't see Logan (yet?), but Kong is so gigantic that it's ridiculous :P Still, apart from that, want to see where the go with it.
Shush. He's a giant monster. Besides, he's still growing; he's got a ways to go before he can stand next to Godzilla for Godzilla vs Kong.
Seems like all the Kong movies have been pretty much quite similar so far tho.
Yeah...this one isn't. Sure, it's got Kong, but it's not the ridiculous homage Peter Jackson's version was. It very much stands alone as it's own version of the character. This has much more in common with the Toho version of Kong and their kaiju movies than any of the other Kong films. They even have him fight a giant octopus (seen briefly in the trailers), a kickass reference to King Kong vs Godzilla.
Oh, and you'll want to stick around for the post-credits scene. It's worth it if you're at all interested in Legendary's shared "Monsterverse".
