Diablo III: Reaper of Souls - The Crusader Arrives Trailer

Quote:
The Crusader is a seasoned hero who embodies divine justice, dispatching enemies with holy thunder while warding off vicious attacks. Stalwart defenders of the Zakarum faith, they stride fearlessly into battle wearing an unyielding coat of steel that shines beneath the shadow of Death.

Watch and listen to learn about the origins of the Crusaders, their prowess with flail and shield, and the divine favor that empowers them to unleash the fury of the Heavens. Then, prepare yourself to play one on March 25, the official release date of Diablo III's expansion Reaper of Souls.

I've been playing a ton of D3 since the patch came out. I'm pretty excited about this character class.

Yeah, but it's the WURST GAEM EVAR!!!1

I just wish everyone who derides D3 in favor of it's predecessor could remember how much hate D2 received when it was first on the market because of how drastically different it was from it's own predecessor.

D3 was a fun, if not troubled, game. This expansion looks to be fixing pretty much every issue people had with the core game. My only source of disappointment is the lack of a shapeshifting class such as the D2 Druid.

Exactly!

As for the expansion, I can't wait. The Crusader looks to be everything I wanted in a new class. The only thing I would have done different is the male crusader's voice. I just think it should be deeper (like Turaylon in Warcraft 2.) But it looks like a blast to play.

I'll be thrilled if the only major issues we have to complain about are matters such as the deepness of a character's voice.

It was until the console version of the game was patched into the final product. Gems can now be altered without having to take them out of your chest; there is a single Health Potion that is based on character level, rather than the HP; loot is now specific to the class you are playing, rather than having random stats. Really, who needs a bow that has Strength primary attributes?; Rares and Legendary now drop much more regularly so you feel like you are being reward more for killing monsters; mobs have been completely redone and retooled, so you no longer run into impossible to defeat mobs when playing at the higher difficulties; so on, so forth.

I still run into elite mobs that seems to "have my number". I like it that way. Reminds me that this game is best played with friends.

Nope. Did everyone forget about the D3 always on internet, even for the single player game? I don't care how good the game is, I'm never supporting devs that do that.

High Priced Expansion + Draconian DRM = No Sale here.

I'm in the boat of people picking up the game again after all this time to prep for the expansion.

I like the look of the Paladi... I mean Crusader and will play one at launch. They already have 9 books or so that drop throughout the game detailing the history. And I see some new monsters and stuff in there.

My problem is that it doesn't look like there is much new campaign content. By that I mean story-line. As I understand it the adventure mode isn't true expansion content; it's more of an bolted on mode. Which is fine, I just would like more story.

Unfortunately Diablo has nowhere near the amount of story content and lore Warcraft has; with the main baddies gone they only have a few paths to go. They've boxed themselves into a bit of a lore corner. Not that they haven't retconned themselves before.

Don't care about D3 lore at all, in fact I've been waiting to turn off the story completely and stop skipping all the annoying NPCs chit chat. They finally gave us exactly that, the adventure mode. Been working on my paragon levels so when I start the crusader I have a nice bonus straight off the bat.

I've been playing it since the patch after not touching it after my first playthrough. It's actually a lot more fun to play, especially at the higher difficulty levels. The story is just as bad as I remember, so I don't have high hopes for a great addition to what passes for 'Lore' in D3. That's why the 'Adventure' mode sounds rather interesting. I have no clue what this Paragon stuff is, it was patched in after I gave up on it, but I think the game might actually be improved.

Having said all that, I'll wait until the reviews are in before I consider coming back for the expansion. Fool me once, Blizzard....

Everything you listed as a positive change were things that either existed in or occurred on a regular basis in D2.
Loot has never been tailored specifically to your class in this series; most of the stuff you'd find wouldn't work for your class. This is why there was such an active trading community. This is also why there were third-party auction houses, which people used all of the time. There have always been different grades of health potions that healed a specific amount of HP. Rares and legendaries didn't drop that often, which is why people would even bother to play a Horking Barbarian in the first place. You also stood a good chance of running into impossible-to-defeat mobs at the higher difficulty level.

What's my point? I'm just tired of people bashing this game for either not being it's predecessor or actually doing things it's predecessors did that people now suddenly hate.

I never played diablo II singleplayer and never want to play diablo III singleplayer so that bit never really bugged me.

The game is, absolutely, a far better game than it was when it launched. I've been playing a fair amount since the patch and I've actually been enjoying every bit of it. It's nice that a game i bought at launch actually, eventually, became what I was hoping it would be since my thousands of hours on diablo II.

I absolutely loved D2. D3 has finally "patched the fun in" and I'm really enjoying it now too.
