Cyberpunk 2077 Interview

Dubscore.pl has s short interview with CD Projekt about Cyberpunk 2077. One interesting idea they have for the game is to record all the dialog in different languages (for example Mexicans speaking Spanish). The player could then purchase language implants that translate the dialog, but those implants vary in quality. For example low-tier implants would only be able to translate into a broken form of English.

Interesting, but balancing that without making gameplay unfun will be tough. I don't want to have to carry around a shitload of implants to slot in and out every few minutes just so I can understand the "quest giver".

Neat idea - but what Vallor says is a great point.

I'm all for it as long as it doesn't remove you from the game experience with "cluttershit".

Bonus points if you are multilingual in RL.

Maybe it'll be a permanent implant that you can upgrade instead of having to swap it around your inventory.

then those foreign speakers better have sub-titles .... in that language of course.

I say this because my border friends point out that the Spanish in Brownsville TX is not the Spanish of Mexico City which is not the Spanish of Chiapas. And only the Mexico City one is anything close to Castillian.
Which is why the Chinese came up with Simplified Chinese for sub titles in their Nationalistic epic movies, one nation that could not understand itself.

Could add value if the "low-tier" translations are hilarious.
