Insidious: The Last Key trailer Brings new Horrors from The Further

Quote:
The creative minds behind the hit Insidious trilogy return for Insidious: The Last Key. In the supernatural thriller, which welcomes back franchise standout Lin Shaye as Dr. Elise Rainier, the brilliant parapsychologist faces her most fearsome and personal haunting yet: in her own family home.

Huh. Knew this looked familiar. Here's the movie posters for the "House 2".

Amazing... the people behind these unoriginal horseshit horror films can't even be bothered to at least come up with an original movie poster.

To be fair, I sincerely doubt there was any intentional copying going on here. I mean, seriously, who the heck even remembers those movies?

All that said, I remember a co-worker talking about enjoying the first Insidious movie. I have yet to see any of them. Whether that's a good thing or now.../shrug.

I don't know, maybe people with a multi-million dollar budget working in the film industry involved in horror, specifically, might remember those movies.
I would like my mechanic to know about cars from the previous years, my doctor to know about medicine from the previous years, and my movie makers to know about films from previous years.

To be fair, that wasn't the only poster associated with that movie...

It's entirely possible the artist(s) behind the Insidious poster never saw that particular poster for House 2. It's entirely possible they flat-out ripped it off, or the artist(s) could have been influenced by the older poster without even consciously recognizing it. It's also entirely possible that the monster from this new movie has keys for fingers, which plays an important role in the movie and would be a cool thing to focus on.

Hell, it could even be an intentional homage, such as when the poster for Cloverfield was an intentional homage to the one for Escape from New York:

Sometimes, I think people are a little too quick to scream, "RIPOFF!"

Opening of Insidious was brilliant, but the ending was so stupid it looked like it was a completely different movie.

I know what you mean from the different look, but I disagree about the ending being stupid. I think it was one of the most interesting story explanations for the origins of the 'horrors'. While it turned the movie to be horror+SciFi, I still think it was creative and well executed (including the additions of humor).

I didn't much like the first one because it didn't really end. Not in a cliff hanger sort of way leaving it open for a sequel but in that sort of way in like Inception where the director clearly wants you to draw your own conclusion and make your own ending.

But the movie wasn't strong enough for that.

Then the sequel came out and was decent and helped flesh some things out but it was clearly trying to retroactively fill in a lore which they hadn't expected to fleshed out (pardon the pun!) that much.

Hopefully now that the fiction is there they have time to focus more on story telling but like someone mentioned it feels like they'll be focusing a lot on jump scares. Plus how much time are they going to have to spend explaining the special circumstances again?

Either way I don't think this is a theater movie unless you have an easily frightened date who needs some comforting during the course of the movie, and then couldn't possibly go to sleep alone after such a scary movie
