His novel from last year, Revival, was pretty good. It’s kind of a riff on Frankenstein.

Yes! I can’t believe I forgot Swan Song. As it goes along the story and characters get weirder and mutated. There’s a lot of similarities to The Stand but in a good way. My only big complaint is it feels too much like the author intended for it to be a movie, similar to The Stand. I always wanted a sequel or even a series to explore the world while it’s still fucked up. The best followup read if you like post apocalyptic mutants is Deathlands. There’s over 200 books and I’m on 37 now.

I think even the worst King books are usually a decent enough read. I've read almost all of them, I think there is 1 full novel I haven't read and a couple of the shorter books (1 Bachman, one King) and I'm way behind on the books of short stories.

I'm getting caught up though, I started reading Joyland a few weeks ago.

McCammon is just a killer writer, I've got one signed book by him.

I am hit or miss on King as well. I loved IT, Needful Things and some of his short story anthologies. My all time favorite of his though was the Dark Half. I lived in a old 1919 built house when I read it that groaned and made weird noises like only a old house does. Reading that book late at night I actually got up and closed and locked the basement door.
