Valve Still Makes Games - Artifact

I'm sure many of you will be surprised to learn that Valve still makes games, as evidenced by tomorrow's launch of the PC title Artifact. It's a card-game based in the Dota universe and plays similar to the likes of Magic Online, Hearthstone or any of the other new to the scene card-games that have popped up recently. There's no limit on number of cards, three lanes always open (again a nod to Dota, which you have to deal with (not like Dota) individually.

This should be considered a powerhouse title by any respect considering the past lineage of their titles. Is anyone hearing good buzz about this?

Artifact: Beginner Guide (Reddit)

Is anyone looking forward to playing this? I just bought it and pre-installed. Hit me up on Steam if you want to play.

The fact they have no gameplay videos or in depth information about the game might have something to do with it (on the Steam page).

Very few company's get to say "Look, I made a game and I'm not gunna tell you anything about it, but trust me!" and get away with it. I am not sure Valve has that cred.

They certainly don't with me after the result of the DoTA owning/naming atrocity. And I'm not one of the fools who think Steam and "Gaben" are god's gift to gamers, though there are plenty who will white knight for them.

Sounds like Valve's latest digital hat dispenser. All about virtual items. No thanks.

Can you even request a refund? I thought as soon as you opened one of the packs of cards you get you can't? Essentially you're just buying 10 packs, not the game.

TF2 being Valve's first foray into the world of microtransactions, and it was all about buying hats! Now I just associate all they do with gaming as being a way to funnel our money into virtual goods.

TF2 was the finest Hat Simulator we've ever had.

Glad to hear they honor the refund requests for it. Know if they removed that disclaimer? I've seen screenshots with a disclaimer that once you open your first pack (a necessary move to play the game I believe?) you can't refund.

Either way this game just seemed like pure garbage to me. Trash IP attached to a card game? Please.

Steam's pretty good about refunds as well as being clear under what circumstances you can refund.
