This PC haptic feedback controller is BIZARRE…and kinda AWESOME!

The Novint Falcon controller was created by an American company to be one of the first 3D Touch devices with haptic feedback for games. The idea is that you would physically FEEL objects and events in games. Originally sold as a bundle for $189 back in 2007, it drummed up a lot of excitement, especially coming off the success of Nintendo Wii and it’s motion controls a year earlier. In this video we discover parts of it are pretty cool…and others… maybe could have used more work.

Ha! I remember this.

It looks cool with the gun attachment in place and probably acts more real than people playing videogames would like.

The gun attachment does feel very natural. Now maybe with better drivers we could keep it better calibrated during Half-Life 2

I have one. I even briefly met with Novint reps during the ill-fated E4All convention, me being a sucker for haptic gizmos. Sadly I lack the desk real estate to keep it out of storage, hopefully some day soon I can dig it out and revisit the what, 4 or 5 games it works with? It really is a neat device. Though getting updated drivers might be a bit of a hassle now, I hear the website is no more.

This was some trolling as shit right here.

I remember thinking that this could be the future for real.

BTW. The WiiU is the goddam future. No, im not being ironic, i mean it. 2 screen gaming is the future.

Featuring a force feedback controller in a video is like showing off VR and only showing the person wearing the headset.

In fact, I think that would be hilarious as a gag video. Do a review of a VR games and the whole video is just Paul wearing the headset while moving around like he is playing, maybe making wierd faces and ducking, etc.. First up is "Arizona Sunshine". As you can see, the immersion is amazing (Paul: Crap, I'm out of bullets! Yikes! *ducks*), you can even open drawers to find loot (Paul: [moving his hand like he is opening a drawer] Oooh, some kind of meat!). Next up is Star Trek Bridge Commander (Paul: [in a chair, maybe leaning way over to the left or right] Yeoman Rand, looking good!), etc.
