Nothing confirmed, but rumor is October. 6 months after the others is pretty typical so far.

Honestly, I can't say anything wrong of the work all of you guys have produced. It's good work. If I have questions regarding delivery or creative choices that I would be willing to discuss, it shouldn't happen in here. As I mentioned, the work produced is quite good.

Nice work guys.

Personally, I'm loving just running around the world. The amount of activity on the streets, and the number of cool places to find is fantastic. GTA's city is wonderfully vibrant. There's a million small details, and each time I play I see a dozen more. I've spent entire cab rides sitting in the back seat soaking up the atmosphere.

I'm not digging the story though. While Nico and Roman are well written, you're surrounded by the same one-dimensional caricature cast that's been in every GTA game. If the intention was to make a more mature game, Rockstar needed to dial back not just the jetpacks, but also the ham-handed sophomoric humor that saturates the radio stations and mission briefings. Also, none of the minigames, aside from the hilarious drunk driving, are fulfilling enough to hold my interest after a total of 5 minutes playtime each.

The multiplayer is an enormous technical achievement. Having 16 people run around in the world with cops, traffic, and pedestrians seemed like unachievable feat, but somehow they've done it. Unfortunately, the designers have dropped the ball on this one. The menus and lobby structure are far too cumbersome, navigating menus should not have to be a learned skill, nor should I have to restart a room because it's impossible to change modes. While none of the modes are particularly deep, there's enough of them to keep the game interesting, just don't expect to play any single one more than three times in one sitting.

Ugh, I'm still trying to get that survive 5 minutes achievement at a 5+ star rating. I'm still on the first island, and I'm trying to do the trick where you cross the underside of the west bridge and go into the tunnel and hang out (where the cops aren't supposed to be able to get to you). But 3 minutes in they always seem to smarten up and come in from every direction on me (most likely because the first one to find me, that I shoot, triggers the rest of them to know my exact location). Any tips?

Track, it's 5 consecutive minutes right? Not total?

Had a chance to see the game played at a gaming day event on Saturday.

We did a side by side comparison of a PS3 and 360 on the same TV, a Sharp Aquos 37" (actually we switched inputs, PS3 using HDMI and 360 on Component). The PS3 seemed to be stuck on 720p, and had horrible jaggies, while the 360 on 1080p looked much sharper. Colours didn't look much different between the two. We did have to up the brightness and contrast on the PS3 one to make it viewable, same for the 360, but to a slightly lesser extent.

The shocking thing was the load times. The PS3, which apparently has a lot of the game installed to the hard drive, was far slower to load than the 360 version. Probably 10-20% longer to load. I should say this wasn't judged by a stopwatch, but rather by the concept art that slideshows while you're loading. We saw more screens on the PS3 than we did on the 360.

I grabbed the achievement by grabbing a chopper and flying over to Aldernay (sp?) before it was opened to me. Just hung around in the air for 5 minutes, got it no problem. The police choppers followed me around but never opened fire.

Yes, 5 in a row. (Possibly, 4 or 4 1/2, I can't remember.)

Overall, cool idea guys. Nicely executed. Bap's writeup was pretty much in line with my thoughts on the game.
No, I don't expect them to do that every time. However, car surfing for two miles on a cop car is a bit ridiculous. Also, I've lost count of how many times I've seen a cop car mow down a pedestrian.

Where do you get a chopper on the first island?

Airport to the west. But I went there today and the choppers weren't there for me....guess they aren't open yet.

Weird. I've never seen a cop car mow anyone down. And in mine, if I run a red and the cop sees, he'll bleep his siren at me as a warning.

Hrm, I'll have to check some maps then, I haven't explored the first island beyond where the missions have been sending me (and to the island to the north).
