I guess there's a ton of butthurt Obama and Hillary voters trying to send a message.

I saw it with my wife. Good popcorn, one odd plot point sticks out in my mind but all in all I was entertained. There have been worse marvel movies.

Yeah... no way in hell is this movie being weaponized politically.

Will see it when the crowds thin out a bit. I'm sure it will be fun, and the reviews make clear it's not overtly political...leftists are doing to this film what they did to Obama, pouring their own interpretations and views into it and using it as a vehicle for their aspirations. Go for it!

Since they lost, I'm assuming the message is "UNCLE!"

I saw it yesterday with family. I think it was my least favorite marvel movie so far. The plot was heavy on drama, the hero became way too heavy on tech, the villain/ comic book part was low on humor. Obviously Thor :Ragnarok released way too close to this film for BP to learn any lessons, but for all the lengthy political absurdity, this could have been another joyless and dreary DC film.

It was an OK Movie. My brother in-law(who is African American)watched it with me and my sons and made me LOL when I asked him what he thought. He said the reviews hyped it way to much and he felt like most were written by white journalists who do not have a clue what African American people want in a movie or enjoy. He was like they made it out to he some revelation but it was just...meh.

I did like Kilmonger. He was a great villain and they did his story justice. He had real motivation unlike most MCU villains and I actually understood why he felt the way he did. It was refreshing.

"fawning critical acclaim" Yeah, I wonder who the first reviewer will be to give it a negative review and be automatically called a racist? This is exactly what the Russians are cackling with glee over. Trying to use our previous melting pot strength to now divide us.

At the wildlife expo this weekend, i learned that a black panther is really a leopard or jaguar, so there's that.

Already happening. Nutcase white libs are demanding white reviewers not be allowed to criticize the movie. The Rotten Tomatoes score is inflated because of their heavy handed censorship protecting it. The same old irrelevant internet bullshit . 99.9999% of the population doesn't give a fuck.

The movie looks so completely homogenized like everything else from Marvel/Disney I don't think I'll ever see it.

It was good. Like Asgard and Paradise Island in WW, I really want to go to Wakanda. When comic movies get beyond "the mean streets of the city" is when I have the most fun. They did a great job selling the setting, which was at least as interesting as any of the character stuff on the screen.

Hopefully I will get to see the Savage Land before too long.

Implying any grown man should see any Marvel movie other than one maybe based on their one favorite all time childhood super hero...

The wife and I had the day off so we saw Black Panther today and grabbed a nice lunch afterward to talk about it. We both enjoyed it. It wasn't the best Marvel movie we've seen but it was well done. One of the things Marvel seems to do well is cast likable people in good roles and this was no different. We both liked the main cast and the world they built with Wakanda was pretty cool. The music, in parts was well done and gave some of the fights more of an exciting edge. On the more critical side, the movie finished weaker than it started and the final battle just felt kind of generic. Black Panther himself felt more CGI than past movies to me but maybe that's because we saw it in 2D IMAX which felt like an extra crisp image. Spoilers on this next point... It felt like the main villain didn't get enough buildup. We went from Klaue being the main villain to Killmonger in a way that left my wife and I wanting more. They also treated Killmonger more honorably in the end than I expected considering he pretty much told us that he wanted some form of dictatorship or even genocide. There's a big difference between giving us some understanding of why the villain is bad and making him look honorable in his views and this movie skewed a little too much toward the latter for my tastes.
Overall I'd give it a 7.5 ~ 8.

All the good seats were already reserved a week in advance for last weekend. Fandango still hasn't put tickets for this weekend on sale yet and it's Tuesday. What the hell?

I'm with the Chief. I liked it overall. Wasn't the best Marvel movie EVAH, was far from the worst. It wasn't as overly political as I feared. The first act was great. The did a really good job of setting up Killmonger's motivations. The final battle was a let down. Relied too much on bad cgi and just didn't feel epic. I'd give it 4 out of 5 stars.

Calm down dude. I was just trying to explain that I was giving the opinion of two people who gave it an hour or so of thoughts right after having seen it.

I dunno, I thought Logan was different and pretty great. It killed what little attention I had for the rest of the comic book film franchises.
