The Life Foundation has been around in the comics since 1988. Plus, Calvin (the alien life form in Life) doesn't really behave like a symbiote at all. The crash location in Life is also completely different from what we see in Venom.
The two movies are completely unrelated.

Does anybody know if there has ever been an ongoing series where the main character began a villain and stayed a villain? No redemptive arc at all? Dark Avengers is the closest I can think, but even then SOME of them were trying to be good guys.

I don't know of an ongoing series, but you can check out Irredeemable or Nemesis.

I like the way Venom looks and sounds, overall. Sure, the CG is a little dodgey...but, at least he looks like Venom. The symbiote is clearly a sentient being and I like the dialog between the two.
It looks better than I anticipated, but I still wish it was part of the MCU.
