Annabelle: Not a bad opening weekend for a film that reportedly cost only half that to make. Expect more sequels!

Dunkirk: I don't know what the fuss is about this movie, it was average at best.

Atomic Blonde: I should have saved my money and seen The Hitman's Bodyguard instead...

I can't wait for the Assassin's Bodyguard. I hope it will redeem the last few months of movies for me.

Frankly except for Wonder Woman this has been a pretty disappointing summer. GotG2 was decent, Spiderman was decent but the rest have all been Meh or less.

Heh, actually I didn't see Annabelle (unfortunately). My father was in town and he wanted to see Dunkirk. Then my parents took the kids to the beach so I took my wife to see Atomic Blonde (as close to a chick flick as I could get).

As for Game backlog... maybe?

I really like the two conjuring movies that Annabelle: Creation is pulled from. Cool, creepy old school horror movies. Throw backs to the 70s style. Think Omen, Rosemary's Baby, The Exorcist.

Dunkirk is a solid movie. What makes it so compelling is it's not a typical war film. It doesn't zoom in on central heroic characters as much as take you through the horrible banality of war, the random moments of death and survival, of heroism and cowardice that zip by in split second decisions.

It's a terrific film. My son and I were both moved.
