Watched Hitman's Bodyguard. I've spent money on way worse movies this summer and since it was basically a Guns, Car Chases, and Explosions movie I felt right at home; like it was a Michael Bay movie.

Nothing in there required a big screen though. Save your 40 bucks IMO and for a different date movie. Good movie and I thought the two had good chemistry and a surprisingly outstanding performance by Seyma Hayek. There are some downright funny ass moments that, had I been at home, I would have absolutely laughed my ass off but almost everyone only chuckled at in the theater because we didn't want to disturb others (I was at a fancy theater so we respect each other!).

As an aside I also got to see Ghost in the Machine (with ScoJo) and, having never seen any other material I thought it was a great movie. I feel sorry the movie got slammed so hard. On the other hand I have no idea how much better a movie it might have been if it had stuck to the source.

+1. Just seemed odd. I watched the anime the other month, which meant it was still fresh, with the ScoJo version being 'nearly' identical. I honestly think that some web pages grab an angle, make the post, with other pages doing a copy and paste and the general mass population (sheep) have a quick read and move on. Job done and film destroyed. Lazy stuff but it's all about the clicks at the end of the day.

I want to see it, but will probably go see IT instead.

I saw Ghost in the Shell the same weekend as Wonder Woman and felt it was the better of the two. Hollywood changed the source material's story while making a near shot for shot remake of the original anime, which was almost brilliant in how such a thing could be accomplished. While the anime is more thought provoking, it also fails to make sense and has little in the way of a conclusion. I am not certain it would have worked live action. The Hollywood version instead featured a very basic, recycled story that allowed the film to convey the characters and world better than the convoluted 90s version. The biggest flaw was the recycled story chosen was a sequel's story. Using it for a first film felt premature in the way that the world mourning Superman felt rushed in BvS.
