I dunno.

Right now you can get an Alienware Aurora:
i7 9700
6gb GTX 2070
16gb 2666 ram
1TB M.2 drive
1YR warranty
Delivered free

For about $1350 (before tax) if you use the code IGD17 in the cart. Even without the code the config is $1549.

Seems like there are some thing way too high cost in your build if Alienware is coming in at this rate, even considering the monitor.

As an aside, I am not sure I'd pay that much for an Nix monitor. I've had two of their 30" 1440 monitors for 5 years of so (I had to send one back cause half the screen failed after 2 years) and while they are OK they aren't anything to write home about. There are plenty of Freesync monitors at least that cheap from AAA manufacturers.

Like this one from ACER.

Thanks valor! I'm specifically looking for an IPS monitor. Thoughts? Is that acer IPS? Couldn't tell. There are a few splurges driving my cost up. One, the PSU has a little overhead for room to grow. Adding $50 for the case I want as well. And the IPS monitor, I know, is going to swallow a good chunk of my budget. I'm okay with that. I really want an IPS 1440 with a high refresh rate. More than a 4k monitor even.

Oh, I should add, I dont need hard drives. I have a really fast nvme drive already that I plan to use.

Yes, the Acer is an IPS panel. I agree 1440 is the way to go over 4k for gaming. Most affordable cards will struggle with 4k at the best settings where 1440 is closer to getting better framerates with all the bling.

You'll probably still have a hard time hitting 144 with the 5700. I have an i9 9700 w/ a GTX2070 and in some of the more demanding games I can't get 100 on my Gsync monitor even at 1080.

Sweet. I'll look into that monitor.

On the GPU, im open. I prefer "team red" for low to mid cards....and being they dropped the price on the RX5700 and it outbenches the rtx 2060...i thought it would be a good pick up now at $320 or so. But do you have any other suggestions for the $300 to $400 range?

Not really, the market in the $300 - $400 range is pretty grim in general. You might check to see if a 1080 Ti can be had there but I am not sure how that performs vs. the 5700. It definitely would beat a 2060.

I haven't gone with an AMD card since they rooked me on Windows 95 drivers for a brand new Mach 32. They released it just before the OS then deprecated the card and never supported Windows 95 as an operating system.

I've held a grudge when it comes to ATI, even if they call themselves AMD now.

As for the monitor, it was just a suggestion to look out side of Nixeus to more mainstream brands with an example of the Acer, not an endorsement of Acer necessarily. Do some comparison shopping and you are bound to find a higher quality gaming monitor from a AAA manufacturer at similar cost.

Nix is a serviceable monitor manufacturer but they feel like the Vizio of monitors. If you can get a Samsung or a Sony for the same price as the Vizio, why not?

So what Im reading is that the 5700 is on par with the 2070 super, but is $100 cheaper. It's the sweet spot for the $300-400 range right now. Though the drivers still aren't the best from what I understand, but have been mostly fixed since launch.

That said, I've decided to go with the 2070 SUPER for ray tracing, though it's costing me $100 more.

I've also found a pretty great LG IPS monitor. 1440p - 144hz for less than that Nix monitor. So I've swapped that out too.

I feel much better about the build. I think I'll roll with it. Thanks, Vallor!
