Nintendo will be fine. I really need to stop trusting auto correct on cellphones and not assume that it got it right.

"The Dreamcast simply delayed the inevitable."

And it was a shame because they have some truly awesome games.

Oh yah, Nintendo's in free fall.

After the clusterfuck of Sega Saturn who could blame them. SoJ, eternally buttmad at their American subsidiary's profitability dwarfing theirs, sealed their own fate when they stuck their noses up at Sony's offer to work together on a new console to compete with Nintendo, an offer that SoA had already accepted and just needed the Japanese parent to sign off on. Of course Nintendo also had already famously backed out of a business relationship with Sony and awakened that sleeping giant, thing is they can get away with a good amount of hubris simply on account of being Nintendo, Sega not so much. SoJ thought otherwise and the entire company paid the price; getting out of hardware when they did is the only reason 'Sega' is still a thing at all, and those of us that bought 32Xs say Good fucking riddance.

Folks at Sega wanted out of the hardware business after the Saturn, so I'm not at all surprised to hear that.

I'm sorry you hate yourself so much. That's really a shame for you!

Lol. Piracy was the least of SEGA's problems. They fucked themselves. Nintendo will never fail, even if piracy becomes rampant on the Switch.

Welllll, no. While Piracy never helps, it was the Saturn that killed SEGA*, and that console required a dedicated soldering job to play imports. Meanwhile, I played Japanese and US games on my PAL PlayStation using this:

*) Of course, that's not really true. It was the general mismanagement, weird marketing and lack of a unified vision that ultimately killed SEGA. That, and the decline of arcades that SEGA had relied on to provide game concepts.

If anything else this will fuel interest in the device. I was totally not interested at all in this little tchotchke until this revelation.

Still not buying one, but this development intrigues me.

I don't think this is a nightmare. Even though it's unpatchable, it still prevents people from going online (BANHAMMER). Nintendo will just keep releasing new games that require new updates.

people are just waiting for easy to use tutorials and loader software. The Ps4 HEN /jailbreak was super easy to do, less than 30 min. firm 4.55 is great, with a 5.05 release in the future that will support the latest god of war and other great games not currently available on 4.55

im sure the switch will be super easy to do just like the 3ds custom firmware installs.

the ps4 does not have online functionality, the switch is likely in the same boat but nobody really knows for certain right now.
