New Green Lantern Trailer from Wondercon - Now with 100% Less Suck!

To say that the initial footage and the first trailer for Warner Bros' upcoming film Green Lantern weren't exactly well-received would be...a bit of an understatement. Some of the primary complaints centered around Hal Jordan coming off as way too goofy and his CG suit looking a little...well...off. Many people were afraid the movie would end up being a little too Earth-focused while essentially ending up as a fairly standard super hero origin movie.

Based off of this latest trailer from Wondercon...I'm starting to think the naysayers may be wrong. Maybe.

This latest trailer definitely paints a much more epic picture; the Corps is shown in all of it's glory and it certainly looks like they'll be facing down a rather large, potentially galaxy-wide threat. Overall, it looks to have a much more serious tone than the preview footage and first trailer seemed to portray. In short, it actually looks like a Green Lantern story. This is a good thing.
Granted, the CG still feels a little "cartoony"...but I'd chalk that up more to the limitations of technology and the uncanny valley more than anything else.

Regardless, my opinion of this movie has improved by a good 92%; I went from feeling rather flat to actually being a little excited. It's starting to feel like the project is actually on the right track.

Check out the new trailer after the jump

That is much better than the previous trailers. There may be hope!

It looked a lot better, and got me interested. The only big CGI problem I had was with the mask. It looked...off to me. I can't even really describe what exactly felt wrong about it, but there was something there that was really distracting to me every time it was on screen.

It's the eyes. His eyes look off because there is no color when he has the mask on.

This does look better than the trailers, but really only because ryan reynolds wasn't talking much. why did they pick reynolds for this? i like RR , i think he does a good loveable sarcastic asshole type, but its not good for hal jordan.

I will say it looks good, but I just can't help but feel a little detached because most of the movie seems to be (and sadly HAS to be for the concept to work) MOSTLY CGI, and as such it makes this so far look more like an animated movie than a live one.

BTW, STILL can't get over how much Reynolds looks like Ben Stiller when he has that mask on! lol.

I'll give him credit for delivering the oath without it sounding ridiculously campy. That's not an easy thing to do, with it rhyming and all.

His entire suit looks kinda wonky to me, or at least the bits where it meets his skin. The collar line looks really bad, like someone painted it on with Photoshop in an attempt to change a normal photo of someone into a superhero.

But, the trailer looks a lot better. Might actually go see this now.

K, that doesn't look terrible, fact it looks great.

But, I still have trouble accepting as a superhero some guy wearing a ring and green tights who would fall to his knees powerless if you tosse a lemon at him.

That iris color change effect was damn awesome. Surprised I've never seen that before.

It's probably because I'm not a huge Green Lantern fan, but it still looked pretty goofy to me. I actually liked the first trailer better, because it grounded all of the cosmic stuff with something a little more real-world.

Yes, I know "cosmic stuff" is the whole point of Green Lantern. Like I said, I'm not really a big GL fan.
