Destiny - Pathways Out of Darkness

The wait is over, Bungie has officially unveiled their next game - Destiny.

Quote:
After a long period of darkness, Bungie is ready to unveil its new universe filled with mystery, adventure, and action. For the first time, the team -- including studio co-founder and project director Jason Jones -- talks about its vision, and the creative process behind Destiny, Bungie's most ambitious project yet.

The character design looks like a mix of Mass Effect...and Mandalorian armor from Star Wars. Looks interesting...

I was thinking Mass Effect and Phantasy Star MMO, the Dreamcast one myself. It looks interesting for sure, Wonder how long before we can play it?

That does look interesting, but now I want to see how the game plays ;-)

I wonder if they will still release it for the current generation consoles when the new ones are around the corner...

Thanks, randir14.

I don´t see this game shipping before the end of 2013... so I´ll just wait for the next generation release before buying it.

I didn´t like this too mucho though: ¨Destiny requires an internet connection to work¨

It must be able to scale or be ported if they expect the game to last 10 years. Since the new consoles are slated for this xmas.

Cautiously optimistic but I have zero interest if it doesn't show up on PC. That is unless the scope of this project is nothing like what they've been teasing. Then again it's labeled as an "action" game and we have no idea about the game play beyond generic use these portals to go around the planet and do shit with your Halo guns. I imagine this would be a success on a massive scale if they have the balls and skill to release it on current gen consoles, next gen and on PC within roughly the same time frame.

heh Sums up my thoughts. I'm remaining hopeful. That eurogamer link made it sound like they want it, and Activision tends to put their stuff on PC.

Feels like it should seem odd that a Bungie game is more likely to see a PC release now that they aren't working for MS.

For me it all looked very "meh"; nothing there that I wouldn't expect to see out of a Bungie FPS targeted for mature tech. The key (for me) will be in the story execution which is something that they really, IMO, fucked up with Halo. I've never found Bungie to be great storytellers, so I'm going to have to lean on "Probably not interested" side of things for now.

Impressive production values, though.

Lotta talk, let's see some walk.

The Halo series never seemed that big of a deal to me, though I give the original credit for providing melee and grenades their own keybind. That was nice.

But I think it's gonna talk a lot more than an epic musical score and the devs sounding impressed with themselves to sell a product that will, as they claim, last 10 years.

Track record says this will be mediocre.

Constant conectivity to a persistent world is a bit of a deal-breaker. Sometimes I need "me time" apart from my other "me time".

My body is old and lazy.

So they left MS to jump into bed with Activision, only to make a new Halo game?

Also always online is not the future and people harassing me on my phone to play a damned game is also not the future. God I feel old and cranky.

About 5 secs of gameplay and 4 mins of devs talking how awesome they are? hmm...will wait for more gameplay videos to make judgement.

I'm interested, but need to see if it syncs across all platforms, what the gameplay structure looks like, and of course, what actual gameplay looks like.
