Peter Jackson's Mortal Engines Official Teaser Trailer

Quote:
Thousands of years after civilization was destroyed by a cataclysmic event, humankind has adapted and a new way of living has evolved. Gigantic moving cities now roam the Earth, ruthlessly preying upon smaller traction towns. Tom Natsworthy (Robert Sheehan)—who hails from a Lower Tier of the great traction city of London—finds himself fighting for his own survival after he encounters the dangerous fugitive Hester Shaw (Hera Hilmar). Two opposites, whose paths should never have crossed, forge an unlikely alliance that is destined to change the course of the future.

Mortal Engines is the startling, new epic adventure directed by Oscar®-winning visual-effects artist Christian Rivers (King Kong). Joining Rivers are The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings trilogies three-time Academy Award®-winning filmmakers Peter Jackson, Fran Walsh and Philippa Boyens, who have penned the screenplay. The Universal and MRC adaptation is from the award-winning book series by Philip Reeve, published in 2001 by Scholastic.

On board as producers are Zane Weiner (The Hobbit trilogy), Amanda Walker (The Hobbit trilogy) and Deborah Forte (Goosebumps), as well as Walsh and Jackson. Ken Kamins (The Hobbit trilogy) joins Boyens as executive producer. Universal will distribute the film worldwide. www.mortalengines.com

Hrmmm. I see smoke. That means internal combustion engines.

Although I will want to see this that fact alone will hurt my chances of getting into it. There's no way the Earth is destroyed yet they have enough gasoline or diesel to power those big moving cities.

Still, it does look fun.

graphically fantastic

but it looks like steam punk, and I can't stand steam punk.

But I'm always up for mindless fun if it's entertaining

This just looks stupidly ridiculous, and not in a good way. Uninterested. Will bomb at the box office, mark my words.

Yeah, but they still had lots of oil and gas to power the boats in Waterworld and that movi...wait, no, that movie sucked. Nevermind. I agree.

I don't think they are going for realism, guys. Just a hunch after seeing an impossibly huge truck with a city perched on top eating other gigantic vehicles.

I have no doubt that it will bomb, but I don't care because it looks interesting enough to watch, even if my gut says it will more than likely be kinda dumb.

Looks ridiculous. The worst part of the trailer was the girl, they just zoomed at her same expression like 3 or 4 times.

This looks stupid. Wish someone would spend some money to bring the Oats studio stuff to the big screen.

What an anime plot device. Not likely to soar in the box office, but at least the premise is sort of original, which is nice to see.

It looks big, loud, bombastic and different enough from everything else out there to at least garner a peek.

I'll check it out, maybe. Possibly in theaters, probably on disc/digital.

Looks interesting. Not sure if I'll see it in the theaters. Maybe if there's nothing interesting to do that weekend, like sleep.

Unless upcoming trailers are better this one seems like a "pass till Netflix"
