Watched Crawl, and it was pretty much nonstop entertainment with minimal setup. It all just worked, and then ends abruptly but good. This wasn't a cheezy gator film, this is a fully R rated suspense thriller.

Amazing that I could still enjoy it overall with the pain in the ass crowd in my theater. Some chick behind us kept talking at the same tone as if she was in a car or whatever, just nonstop. I had to turn around and give a glare a couple times but that only helped for a minute. There were other people behind and on the right who kept talking as well.

This is why I usually avoid going on the weekends and go on Mondays. Fuck people. There are way too many of them.

I've heard good and bad about Stuber.

It has David Batista, who is not only a super SJW type and supposedly some of that infuses this movie (attacking toxic masculinity, and so on) which instantly turns anything into a "redbox" but then tack on his very vocal support of James Gunn's past. On one hand I can appreciate the loyalty. On the other I wonder if there is a line which should be drawn.

I've forgiven people for some terrible things and kept them in my life but I don't give them the same access and freedoms they might once have had. Forgiveness doesn't mean forget.

At the end of the day there's a lot of good movies available which don't give these sorts of quandries so I'll probably pass on it.

Spiderman: Far from home review.

Let’s cut to the chase and ask,
-Was it a great film?
-Was it a bad film?
-Would I ever watch it again?

My only answer can be ‘no’ to all of the above. I’d never watch this film again. Sure, okay, it was fun in parts, maybe even quite good, but there’s still far too much Peter Parker and not enough Spiderman(boy). The M.J. relationship also doesn’t work, for me, as it’s just tacked onto the side. She’s always been such a huge part of the Spidey universe but, in this film, she’s just there when the story requires her. The bad guy(s) (No spoilers) isn’t that bad, but…

CONTAINS SPOILERS FROM THIS POINT FORWARD!

In a way, like the Mandarin in Iron Man 3, the film throws a blindside tactic to throw you off ever so slightly. Yeah, we know who the bad guy is, but there’s a little twist within the obvious twist that I found enjoyable. The frustration, with this film, is that Spidey faces a bad guy/entity that he cannot really defeat on his own (Initially). Mystical monsters and all that… with a viable bad guy appearing later into the movie. It’s okay, but only slightly annoying.

Either way, some will enjoy the film, some will find it a bit boring, but that’s for you and whomever you watch the film with to decide.

Positives:
-This and that.
-Reasonable action.
-The Captain Marvel mention.
-The serious aspect(s) of the film, near the end.

Negatives:
-Spidey pretty much absent for a lot of the movie.
-Peter Parker as a kid (That’s the character). When do we see spider ‘man’? Probably never.
-No Captain Marvel. Sigh. I love you Brie.

Not bad, not great, but worth a watch at least once.

Really because the previews made it look like a cheesy gator film. I guess I'll catch it on rental. Might be good to scare my 8 year old.

The director previously made The Hills Have Eyes (remake) and High Tension, which were both insanely good, as well as Mirrors and Piranha 3D, which were fun. Point is he makes great or at least fun movies. Crawl is better than merely fun, but I'm not going to say it's great either, that's reserved for really impactful films (like the first two). But it's definitely good, and maybe when I can watch it without ass-chodes annoying my wife and I it will go up in ranking.
