Gran Turismo Sport Release Date Revealed For PS4, New Trailer

GameSpot has the story.

Quote:
Gran Turismo Sport--the first game in the series on PS4--is coming out on October 17 (October 18 in Europe and Australia), publisher Sony has announced. The company revealed the news in a new EU trailer, which you can watch above.

Sony said recently that the racing title would launch this fall, but this is the first time we've had a concrete date since its delay from 2016. Today's announcement follows the completion of the long-running closed beta, which finished earlier this week. That's not the last you'll see of it before launch, however; Sony says a full reveal of the cars and tracks included is coming soon. In the meantime, check out the game's box art--including images of the Day One, Steelbook, and Collector's Editions--below.

We played the latest iteration of Gran Turismo Sport at E3 2017, and you can check out our early impressions here. Elsewhere at the event, Sony confirmed GT Sport will run at 4K and 60 FPS on PS4 Pro, which will also get HDR support.

A release date! Too bad I'm out 20 bucks. My release date pool pick was on "Polyphony Digital was abducted by aliens."

Well, unless this is all a ruse. Sneaky bastards!

Hmm. I don't think I've played a GT game since GT3, back in the 90's. Maybe a little GT4 on the PS2 at a friends house, actually.

I may give this one a go once it hits the bargain bin. I'm not too big on racing simulators any more; I prefer the arcade racers.

If this was released last year I think it would have sold relatively well. But with a "real" Forza title coming out this Fall, the game is going to get clobbered by comparisons. As much as I like the driving and feel of Grand Turismo, the games are just old and clunky. Collision detection and damage is a joke (best way to take a corner: ram into the guy slowing down in front of you) and the game engine really can't match what they are doing at Turn 10.

GT3 was on PS2... wasn't a 90's game
