Ohmwrecker Plays Darkest Dungeon

Looks fun. I'll definitely check this one out when it hits full release!

I've been playing this a lot lately. The game is brutally punishing to your heroes, but the fun lies in learning how to manage their deterioration with careful planning and decision making. The game has a definite Lovecraftian feel to it with the way your heroes' sanity is constantly degraded.

I've read a LOT of good things about it. Definitely on my to-do list.

I funded it on KS, but didn't want to play it until the final version. I hate playing incomplete/buggy versions.

This dude doesn't seem good at the game, but it does look good. Hence, it shall remain on my Steam Wishlist until it is criminally cheap.

I've been playing it & so far so good.

It has a definite Lovecraftian feel to it as stated above. The game is pretty difficult, and has a massive RNG swing to it, but this is managed (in facilities) while you run another mission to further destroy these poor characters.

Party Composition seems to be a big strategic point, especially once you get to missions where you are allowed to camp. Camping brings another set of skills to the table to reduce stress, heal, buffs... etc.

One thing I will say off the bat that I liked about this. The Art direction is outstanding.

The audio is pretty spot on too, but the Narrator in this thing... Guys name is Wayne June. I'm not familiar w/ him, but Holy Shit is he good. Voice is perfect for this setting. Props to the devs on that pick.

So far it's fun, and surprisingly polished for early access. Can't wait to see more content though.

People still buy Flash games? I had to mute the video and it looks fairly boring as well as easy. I guess there is a small market for grimdark Pokemon battles.

Darkest Dungeon is a fun and challenging turn-based game. The narrative is excellent and the strategic element is engaging. Once you figure out how everything works (I found the game doesn't do a terrific job at explaining some important details), it makes for an enjoyable change of pace in gaming.

As with most Indie games though. it isn't something you can sit and play for hours on end. And if you are a twitch gamer I would say to steer clear of games like these as the slow turn-based gameplay will probably drive you insane.

I agree with everyone's assessment so far. The art and mood are so well done and the game is challenging enough to make victories feel great. I find it both a fun game to play and a fun game to watch as well. There are a lot of Twitch streamers out there that name their characters after their chat room members and it's kind of fun to root for your guy to be the one to make it out alive.

I wanted to add also that even though Darkest Dungeon is in Early Access it is for the most part bug free. I have clocked in around 11 hours so far and I haven't run across any bugs playing yet.

Is the game worth $20? Definitely.
