Mass Effect 2 and 3 DLC Bundles Finally Pop Up on Origin, Prices Suck

No more Bioware points... PC Gamer has the story.

Quote:
Both Mass Effect 2 and 3 had some cracking DLCthe sneaky spy sequences of Kasumi's Stolen Memory and the rip-roaring Citadel are my two personal favourites. But they've been very difficult (and expensive) to get hold off, requiring you to mess around with clunky Bioware points rather than purchasing them outright. Things just got a bit easier, because DLC bundles for both games have just popped up on Origin.

Both packs contain all the major single and multi-player expansions, plus extra weapons, armour, digital art books, comics and soundtracks. The Mass Effect 3 bundle also comes with the extended cut of the game's controversial ending, in case you didn't get to play through it the first time round.

The prices are slightly disappointing, if you ask me. The Mass Effect 2 bundle is $24.99/21.99, while the third game's bundle is $29.99/26.99. Now, if you break each one down, you'll see that you're making a decent saving compared to purchasing individual elements: Mass Effect 3's main single-player expansions, Citadel and Omega, were $15 each, and for the same money here you're also picking up Leviathan, From Ashes, all the multiplayer add-ons and extra weapons. But considering the base games are available so cheap (both under $5), I'd have hoped the DLC would come in at a more bargain price.

Those are really bad prices if you consider that an entire year of Origin Access is like $30, and it includes ALL of these games.

So, if I want to go back and play these, I'll torrent them. Got it.

That's the message you're sending, EA.

Well compared to what it costs previously to get the full ME trilogy experience this is finally a bargain. Up to now depending on the sale it could still cost nearly $80 to get ME 1 - 3 and all the DLC.

See, that is what I say!

I remember when we would never consider piracy around here and actively banned people for it, now the industry is so hostile to its customers Im almost tempted to encourage it and I do actively encourage it to get back at the Hollywood shitheads who want to push their politics on the rest of us.

This might be at least one reason creators tend to avoid the site these days.

Not saying I completely disagree but... just sayin.

I don't know, you may be right, but piracy is not a huge subject here. We had one well liked developer leave after people were hostile towards the free-to-play business model. I hope he makes his way back eventually. A few left because we were on the opposite side of the GamerGate controversy. I think it's fair to say we're not fans of SJWs around here.

I've done game news for over 20 years and it wasn't very political until sites like Kotaku and Polygon started injecting politics into everything. Then guys like Evil and I, and many other obviously, pushed back. Now, like everything else these days, the gaming community is polarized to a certain degree. It sucks because we have more in common than not. But with politics come strong feelings and heated disputes.

I don't pirate anything. When I was growing up I used to make copies of vinyl albums on cassette tapes for friends. That's as far as I went. When people were using Napster, I was still buying CDs - better sound quality; compressed music sucks. If I want something I'll wait for it to hit the price I want to pay for it. When Gran Turismo Sport came out I pre-ordered it. I'll get Project Cars 2 and Need For Speed Payback on PS4 when the deluxe versions are $20. I get a ton of PC games for free, so I have more games than I could ever play.

I'm never installing the Origin client again. Would have easily purchased Mass Effect Andromeda on Steam despite all the bad reviews, but definitely not on Origin. I have enough shit running on my PC as is.

I'm one of the pirate before you buy type of guys. I delete the game after I pirate it if I like it and buy it legit on steam etc., However, to be honest most of the times, I am glad I didn't buy what turned out to be a giant turd.

If they brought back demos etc., I'd be more inclined to stop. That being said, I don't like the new "trials" they have of games. The idea is good, but the implementation (that i've seen so far) seems unnecessarily asinine.

If you don't like it, don't buy it and don't use it. It's how boycotts works.

Stealing it out of spite is just petty and childish.
