Game Of Thrones Star Says Season 7 Will Blow Your Mind

GameSpot has the story.

Quote:
Game of Thrones Season 7 is scheduled to premiere later this year. Now, series star Emilia Clarke, who plays Daenerys Targaryen on the HBO show, has revealed that filming is almost done.

In a February 3 Instagram video (via EW), she said she is "a day away from wrapping" on a season that she says will be a "mind-blower."

As if she would say otherwise. My personal opinion is that she's a bad actress in a bad role. Most of the main characters are well acted and well written even if I'm not a big fan of the story. But I just can't get behind Daenerys at all.

This is the 2nd to last season, yes?

Weird, haven't had any qualms with her or the role. I quite like the character too. Martin's genius is in subverting or denying the standard fantasy tropes, fantasy without training-wheels. Her character arc has been a playing out of this.

No, he's right, she's terrible.

Also, she's wrong; if you see the spoilers they aren't mind-blowing, they're just poorly planned. If the show is actually following what Grrrr wanted then I'm sorry I ever read the books.

Most men don't. She's the trashy romance novel heroine meant to drawn in female fans. Same thing could be said of Maeve in Westworld (minus the trashy romance part).

It's generally a good idea in a mass-market media property to try to draw in more than 50% of the population, thus the widespread inclusion of heroines and female-interest empowerment stories and the like. Nature of the beast.

This is why i only watch reruns of MST3K and AVGN with the occasional twitch stream and youtube video.

Literally everything is generic and meaningless. I don't know how you guys do it. Doing the dishes makes me feel better.

You can draw in both men and women with a quality character/actor. You don't need to just be resigned to drawing in women with terrible pandering characters.

You need to keep in mind Anemonemadingdong subscribes to many parts of authoritarian ideology.

I'm curious in what sense you use the term pandering here? Danerys is not like some feminist Mary-Sue character. She's had numerous setbacks and near-misses. She's barely escaped with her life several times. She begins the story with virtually zero self-esteem, under the thumb of her brother, and grows into her role as she discovers her power, and parlays that into her ambitions, couched as they are in freeing slaves, she would nonetheless make a slave of everyone as her subjects, even if she intended to be a benevolent queen. She's still just as guilty of playing for the throne as everyone else in the series, which is ultimately why no one should mourn a single supposedly 'royal' death in the series :P

She obtained all of her power by being magically fireproof and, by chance, being given dragon eggs as a wedding gift. Yes she makes dumb moves in the show but everyone fawns over her as being extraordinary and that's another part of my problem with her. It's not just that she's bad but everyone is taken with her for almost no reason. It's not just that she's a bad character with bad acting, she makes other characters around her worse too. Even poor Tyrion has become boring since hooking up with her.

I'll qualify this by saying I have not read the books, only watched the show, so I'm going off the show.

> She obtained all of her power by being magically fireproof

By birth, yes. But that alone did not save her, her own decisions have been crucial to her current status, she could easily be dead otherwise. And her powers have not exactly acted as deus ex machina to get her out of these jams.

> by chance, being given dragon eggs as a wedding gift

I think Viserys guessed what would happen on that score. It was not accidental. He probably paid an incredible price for them.

> Yes she makes dumb moves in the show but everyone fawns over her as being extraordinary

She's done dumb things, sure, but that's what people do. She's not a Mary Sue, she's fallible. She can't even properly control her dragons with whatever affinity she has with them.

She's still a great character because of her heart. Her compassion for people very nearly gets her killed in the slave city.

> It's not just that she's bad but everyone is taken with her for almost no reason.

Well she is beautiful, powerful, magical, and foreign--just one of those would be enough to make anyone a draw, anywhere.

> Even poor Tyrion has become boring since hooking up with her.

He's escaped his primary antagonists and now has to survive in a much friendlier court, of course he's more boring now, he's no longer slapping boy-kings and plotting against murderous siblings.

Well, we don't agree, but thanks for explaining.

I'd respect your answer more if you just admitted that you were smitten with her.

I do think she's physically attractive, though I don't tend to go for either white or blond. But sure, I wouldn't kick her out of bed :P

I liked Rob's wife much more; she ded now.

Too much analysis. I just enjoyed the dang show. Really that simple.

It's good to know that I'm not the only one who quietly thinks that. I feel I'm drowning in the depths of effiminate male masses shouting "hoorah grrrl poowwwaah" at the top of their homosexual lungs (complete with a 14 year old boy's voice breaking inflection at the peak).

That said, I don't mind Emilia Clarke as a person; she seems cool but she needs to get her eyebrows undercontrol.

You guys just haven't seen her stellar performance in Triassic Attack!

Emilia Clarke really is terrible, though. Without Game of Thrones she'd be in porn.

In the first season, she practically was in porn.

Of course, GoT has at least one actress who legit was a former porn star, most famously Sibel Kekilli as Shae, the love interest of the Dwarf (whom he later kills in a jealous rage).

http://nypost.com/2014/04/08/meet-th...me-of-thrones/

GoT is full of B actors, pretty standard path up for small actors, through tv.

Besides Emilia Clarke is there anyone else Hollywood is so desperately trying to force down our throats? As if the Terminator reboot wasn't bad enough she was recently cast in the young Han Solo prequel. She's like the female Sam Worthington or Jonah Hill. Boring barely talented actors that suddenly and undeservedly headline all these big movies.
