Deceived by the forces of evil into prematurely bringing about the end of the world, War the first Horseman of the Apocalypse stands accused of breaking the sacred law by inciting a war between Heaven and Hell. Given the opportunity to return to Earth to search for the truth and punish those responsible, you must take on the forces of Hell, forge uneasy alliances with demons, and journey across the ravaged remains of the Earth on your quest for vengeance and vindication.

Offer ends Monday, March 21st at 10am Pacific Time.

heh I might have to grab that at $10. How does the PC version compare to the console ones?

You know, it's an interesting game, seemingly epic in scope, but there's something really off about it.

Firstly, the game does you no favor on control options. Sure you can pickup cars and throw them at things, but there's actually so many functions that even I was a bit lost just setting up my control scheme. And remembering it was a mighty task.

The first level throws you directly into taking on nephilim and flying angels and then defeating a 10 story giant with half its body subsumed into the New York subway system or w/e, underground.

I played up to that, put it down and haven't had the inclination to come back to it yet, preferring to get time in on Borderlands and Mafia 2.

I think it's probably worth playing, and that I'll get back into it eventually, that's just the impression I've formed right now. Like maybe it bit off a little more than it could chew.

Playing the demo on PS3 I got sort of a Zelda meets Soul Reaver vibe, if that helps any. Rapid hack and slash, with dungeon type puzzle areas. The demo was only for the one area though.

It's...a bit of everything depending on the level. It has about 1% of Zelda (64) 32% GOW and um the other 66% really well...this game is many games put together. (Hack-n-slash?) Sometimes the controls feel clunky but overall it IS worth those 10 bucks.

Yeah I'd say it's worth $10 too. Forgot to put that in there.

Darksiders can be compared to Legend of Zelda. Even though the art style and content is different. Is it worth $10? Absolutely, the game comes with the soundtrack and a comic book fyi

I purchased and plan to play it later, I just have a lot of games to crunch atm

Oh lil synopsis from what Ive played so far,

You are war, 1/4 horsemen of the apocalypse. You work for some big burning skullhead jerks called the burning council.. and earth is getting pwned by the demon/angel war.. which is not apparently supposed to happen. As I said ive only played a lil bit of it, but it feels like I am getting set up

I think the first hour or so of the game does not do it justice. It actually gets much better once you are past the tutorial during which it merely feels like a bad God of War clone. Later on, exploring, finding items and solving puzzles gets much more prominent and the game borrows heavily from The Legend of Zelda (which is not a bad thing at all).
The same is true for the controls: During the tutorial you have all the items, weapons and special moves at your disposal, which can get quite confusing. During the first hours of the actual game, you have relatively few combat options and earn more along the way thus giving you enough time to get used to them.
As a long-time Zelda fan, I found the game quite enjoyable, even though it does not match the former for sheer gameplay perfection. It is certainly worth $10 (or 7.50 here in Europe) if you like the idea of a more "mature" Zelda game.

A bit off topic, but Extra Credits did an excellent show about tutorials just today, some of which also applies to Darksiders.

Yeah, the intro to the game basically has you choose a weapon while you're standing in hell :P It's fairly high-fantasy in concept, and I really like that. Just I haven't played enough of the game to see where it goes from there, it just didn't grab me right out from the beginning. Still pretty positive towards it.

The character is thick like a GOW character, and the gameplay is probably a lot like LoKain.

They blame the Apocalypse on you...You basically awoke to find demons and angels fighting...with no other horsemen around. I'm halfway on this game and I haven't gone back either due to other games having a higher priority to this one.

More of a rip-off than a homage?

The game has a great feel and lots to do. Totally worth $10 if you have an XBox 360 game controller

Imagine the most completely, totally, face-meltingly badass 80s metal album cover. Then imagine a morbidly obese version of Sephiroth. Combine the two. You now have Darksiders.

I really enjoyed this game, actually. My only complaint is even though the game basically forces you to customize where how you select weapons, I could never manage to select the weapon I wanted on the first try.

Its actually fantastic with mouse and keyboard. A 360 controller isn't required at all.
