with all due respect to Van Halen, Tom Sawyer is a better song for this

...and Rush is a better band.

the movie? fun book. capture the major plot, the 80s nostalgia of my childhood, and all will be fine. even speilberg’s poor movies are generally ok

I feel like doubling down on all the pop culture brands is the wrong way to push this movie. I think they should be trying to sell whatever the heart of this movie is and just include the pop culture stuff as flickers of images.

As it stands, it doesn’t look appealing. It looks like Retro City Rampage. The movie. And that game sucked.

Pop culture brands were a major portion of the actual book. It was all about 80s nostalgia.

Obviously the movie can't use 80s nostalgia because it is too old for young audiences. Also a lot of the book would be terrible and boring in movie form. So they are doing this weird thing I guess.

I agree that the movie will probably suck though.

Oh I know the book. I just feel like whatever appeal is supposed to be had by seeing all of the pop culture stuff together on screen is lost on a generation that has seen that over and over again. It just Looks like the cover of an EGM magazine.

I guess I’m Saying that the Literary nods to the games feel more cultured and novel than the images of it, which feel pedestrian at this point.
