Holy Crap look at this Bundle!

The latest Humble Bundle is a steal!

$5.33 average when I got it, Metro 2033, Darksiders, Red Faction, and Three Company of Heroes titles, plus soundtracks.

Even I couldn't pass this up.

Are they still only handing out 1 key for the entire bundle (+maybe an extra key for the SR3rd unlock)?

So it's officially named the Humble THQ Bundle. I hate taking advantage of dying companies but holy shit this is really a great deal!

Yup. 1 key for the bundle, 1 for SR3.

Bought, even though I've got a few of those games.

Steam Key only: there is no DRM-free this time. I had Company of Heroes + Expansions and SR3:Complete, so I kicked them a dollar for Darksiders, Metro 2033, and Red Faction: Armageddon. I was considering each of those during the Steam Fall 2012 Sale for ~5-7.50USD, so I'm glad they just done did what they done did.

SR3 soundtrack only comes if you beat the average, by the way.

I own none of them, but will own all of them when I get home. We're finally starting to see A-AAA developers get in on the bundle scene, which is a win for us.

Bought it. Impossible not to.

Isn't that just because THQ is practically bankrupt right now? I mean, it's a great way to suck one last quick bit of value out of your library if you're about to go bankrupt. Brilliant. I hope other nearly bankrupt companies follow suit.

But a company failure like THQ doesn't come around often.

If they did this for the console versions they would quadruple their sales.

I don't see this as a sign of high quality developers doing bundles, I see this asa sign of how far THQ is in the red. I would not expect to see bundles like this from developers who aren't near bankruptcy, especially since I've been watching the average price continually decrease over the last few hours.

Note also that these games are NOT DRM-free as all other Bundles have been. You can only use them with Steam.

Ars has an article about how this bundle is actually potentially damaging to their (Humble Bundle) brand. http://arstechnica.com/gaming/2012/1...ds-reputation/

Wow that's kinda crazy, too bad I own all of them. It seems like the site is getting slammed hard.

Any potential customer who has the ability to read should be able to figure this out. As much as I tend to enjoy Ars Technica that article and many others are put out merely to get hits on a story about basically nothing.

I doubt it will 'hurt their brand'. Catching a big name like THQ is a major coup frankly.

As someone currently studying business and marketing, I strongly disagree that it is about nothing. The fact that Humble Bundle created themselves as a low-cost place to get DRM-free games, and is selling a bundle that is not DRM-free is significant. There are a good chunk of their customers who purchase bundles entirely because of the DRM free aspect.

Do I think it's going to destroy Humble? No. If it continues, will it? Yes.

I like to actually address a relevant topic when I speak. Otherwise everything I do degenerates into discussing the best way (Forced OD to fool police, natch) to kill a hooker and discussing the best way (Fed to next hooker for increased YouTube hits, of course) to kill a hooker. Eventually my various personalities get involved and begin to argue. No they don't.

I considered the company in question but ultimately see it as that "First step." Someone had to begin eyeing the success of Steam's sales and the Humble Bundles and start to think "We can't let those Indie guys have all the profits!" Once the idea spreads, and the stink of "Desperation" fades, we will likely begin seeing more name devs join the party.
