Looks amazing, like it is right in line with the comics. Though, I think HBO needs to have someone give them a swift kick in the jubblies to leaving Alan Moore's name off the series. Without Alan Moore, there is no Watchmen. Dave Gibbons was just the artist. Anyone could have drawn it and it would have still been amazing, because one of the things Alan Moore was known for was telling the artist what to draw in basically every single panel.

Not sure if joke but this is an obvious reference to infamous Watchman, Rorschach.

Well, I do agree that that line in the trailer is a hokey ham-fisted racism reference, but I don't think it takes away from the rest of what you are seeing. Double that since the main black character in the show is a police officer, not some trite gang-banger like you would usually find any time people are making references to race.

I also really like that Dr. Manhattan didn't leave the galaxy like they implied in the comics. It actually makes more sense that he would stay close to earth after his renewed interest in humanity at the end of the comic.

So timeline wise this is set where the graphic novels ended?

If so I am more interested, it's been ages but i think i would enjoy a new storyline over a rehash.

Sorry if the video says it, cant watch the video at work.

They aren't really saying. It appears to be set after the comic/movie, but the producers said it was a "re-imagining of the classic story updated" so I'm not sure if they are saying the events from the movie happened or not.

I guess we will need to watch it to see.

This looked like trash but then..
Alan Moore as hell.
Which is tough because it could still be trash.

I thought the comics were OK. The fans of comics jizz all over them.
I thought the movie was unwatchable. Comic book fans eat that shit up and ask for seconds.
This actually seems decent to me. I imagine this will be like Viagra to the fans of the comics.

To each his own. I liked the comic and the movie but I actually thought the movie was superior in some ways, especially with the Manhattan vs giant squid endings.

I totally, 100 percent agree. I thought it was a much more elegant solution and showed the lengths Ozymandias would go to (i. e., sell his own comrade) in order to unite the world.

I'm not sure what this series is supposed to be. I thought it looked bland, bad even, and basically showed everything but the Watchmen. Even the Minutemen and masked police officers got more screen time.

As much as I do like the movie, most of it doesn’t make sense without the giant squid. That is the big “joke” that drives the Comedian to Moloch crying. With the movie ending, I don’t think a cynical bastard like the Comedian would break down, he would be just a likely to be on Oz’s side and think we deserved it.

It would have been hard to pull off in a movie for sure, the movie ending is more logical and neat, but avoids a lot of what made the characters work.

I think this will be great. It seems to be its own thing and I feel like it is a lot like what Moore might have written himself if he had returned to the characters today.

He hasn't liked having his name attached to adaptations for years. League of Extraordinary Gentlemen was the last straw for him, I think. His name very well could have been omitted at his own request.

I hope they unfuck this enough so people understand what the hell is going on rather than some fan based masturbation series.

If this picks up from the movie and/or comics there's a lot of explaining to do if they really want to call it The Watchmen instead of just having a series set in the world of The Watchmen. Considering the cameos of Dr. Manhattan I get the feeling it is the former rather than the latter. Viewers are going to need to be spoon-fed the backstory of the team specifically.
