Civilization VI Spring Update Announced, Two New Civs Coming

GameSpot has the story.

Quote:
Civilization VI fans have a lot to look forward to in the near future, as Firaxis and 2K have announced that two new civs are on the way, as is a Spring update.

Only one of the two civs, Persia, has been unveiled so far. As seen in the video above, it's led by Cyrus II, also known as Cyrus the Great, who has the Fall of Babylon ability. This provides all Persian units with bonus movement after declaring a surprise war. Doing so also results in less of a diplomatic penalty than it does for other civs.

Persia features the unique Immortal unit. Described as an "elite heavy foot soldier," it replaces the Soldier and features both strong defense and--more interestingly--a ranged attack.

Persia's unique ability grants it a bonus trade route when Political Philosophy is unlocked, as well as bonuses for internal trade routes. It also has the unique Pairidaeza tile improvement, which provides culture, gold, and appeal, as well as additional bonuses for being located next to districts and city centers.
Read on.

I have a LOT of hours in Civ 5. But I just can't get into 6 until they put in the build queue.

I was super excited when this came out, sadly it feels more like a half finished game than anything. Adding more Civs to the mix isn't really fixing the problem at the core, just trying to pile more junk on the already lacking system.

With the way districts and wonders are placed as well as how district buildings require the district exist in order to build them, I can understand why they didn't spend development time on a build queue. It would really only be useful if you were exclusively building units and/or district projects (not buildings), or, I suppose, if you're expanding in the late game and have access to many city center options at the new cities' onset.

For the majority of the game's progress with most leaders, I don't miss the build queue at all.

Big Civilization series fan here, but I've just grown tired of it honestly. It's just iterating at this point. Civ 3 was my epic time sink, Civ 4 held me pretty solidly as well, but Civ 5 doesn't get much time from me and I don't have any interest in Civ 6.

Sad. Really loved this series in 3 and 4.
