Last rush of holiday shopping. Or, if you are done, then last rush of holiday gaming. What are you playing?

Going to mess around with the World of Warships beta, and then some BLOPS4 and/or Subnautica.

I got sucked back into Super Mario Odyssey on Switch... DAMMIT. That game is just PERFECTION. I'm loving all the little hidden stuff I'm finding the second time through. A masterpiece.

I've been checking out that Yakuza, which I hear has a great story. But is the gameplay as good as something like Sleeping Dogs?

Story is incredible. Gameplay is incredible.

What you're going to notice is the game kinda shoehorns you into a small area of the city at first. Disregard. The city will open up after about an hour of play. From there there are 100 side quests and a million diversions - from watching all the softcore porn videos in the game, to a batting cage, to pool and darts, to slot car racing (where you customize your own slot car and race in tournaments). You'll also build your own business empire, bet on cat fights, scout the world for new weapon crafting materials and blueprints, and on and on. So it has all of this goofy stuff on the side, while maintaining an extremely good - serious crime drama.

Combat is interesting and dynamic. The characters are quite likeable. I think it's an A+ game personally. I didn't want to put it down until it was done.

OH - because you mentioned sleeping dogs. Let me just say, don't expect a massive city like GTA. The area is smaller but much more detailed and fleshed out, and much more crammed with interesting side stuff. It's a bit more structured, but much more robust.

I loved Yakuza 0. Bought Kiwami 1 & 2 and part 6 as well, all because of how much I liked Zero. Still need to play them, though.

As for this weekend, looks like it'll be the usual. BF5, PUBG to play on the new map, and some Binding of Isaac when I want to stop shooting guns.

Have an enormous backlog, but I've been hooked on BF5 since it came out. Even got Darksiders 3 since it was added to the Origin access vault. Hope I can play the backlog games in 30 years when I retire.

Not much time for gaming this week, I worked Overtime all week, then stayed for a supervisor meeting on Friday so all I did all weekend was catch up on sleep.

My ban is up on Heroes of the Storm and a new Season started so I played four matches of that yesterday. Won twice and lost twice. Ranked is still a cesspool. People keep picking Nova and other high-kill characters to get their points up, but we end up losing the objectives every time because those assassins pretty much leave you short a man on most maps.

I can see why they are shutting it down.

I saw someone with a mount that was a crab. Anyone know where that came from? I never saw it for sale and it is something I would have put real money into buying. I guess that is another reason they are shutting down, the best stuff always seems to come from random events and you can’t just buy it with cash.

Edit: Looks like it was a Season 4 reward. Even if I hadn’t been banned, I have never been able to dig myself out of bronze to get any of the reward mounts. I think you really need a team for that. Guess I should make some friends. Ha!

I picked up a new Logitech G513 Silver keyboard. It's not the greatest keyboard out there, but I love it so far.

I plan on using it this weekend to play old Commodore 64 games. VICE just released an update to their C-64 emulator, so I need to check that out. I'll play some games, and then continue coding a game I've been working on for the C-64.

Merry Christmas to all my Evil Avatar friends!
