If the devs want a historically accurate game, they won't add women, simple as that.

Multiplayer isn't historically accurate if you wanted to argue that point, but even the multiplayer tends to get the historical aspect in these types of games.

No one should tell them what they need to add unless they say they will hold them selves to a standard publically, like historical details.

Otherwise go ahead have a field day, make a transgender hero that somehow saves the day for all I care.

just don't expect me to buy it.
I don't think women wanted this.. more so people who want to become the mouthpiece and speak for women (which is ironically pretty sexist). Its like the thousands of white christians who won't say merry christmas due to offending some imaginary non white non christian person. Then the other white christians think somehow brown people instigated this, whereas in reality most non white christians love celebrating christmas and have absolutely zero problems saying merry christmas.

Women should not be in WWII single player campaign. If they want to add a female in multiplayer then go for it. Stay historically accurate.

Well, that's precisely what they did. They're only available in multiplayer.

I never play the multi-player of these things, but I can see why people would be upset. Many people play period games because of the period, not because it's a pew-pew shooter. What if they let players be a Pokemon? This is a WWII game, not Super Smash Brothers. You don't just shoe-horn in whatever just for the sake of whatever. And most of the hours put into the game will BE in the multi-player component, so saying "It's just the multi-player" is basically saying "It's just the bulk of the game."

If they are going to add women at all, then why bother making it actual WWII? Have it be some kind of alternate timeline or steampunk or something. What's next, a US Civil War RTS with Romans on one side and Ninjas on the other?

"THIS IS SPARTA-nsburg South Carolina y'all!"

I had this great response typed up about how this is basically just Destructoid doing it's big song and dance virtue signaling.

Unless people who make and buy authentic games decide they no longer want an authentic game this really is nothing but aforementioned virtue signalling by the cucks in the industry. Sorry, but outside of Rosie the Riveter or tirage doctor and nurse women simply haven't had frontline combat roles with very few exceptions in recent years.

"Total War: The Mongol Invasion" isn't going to have a bunch of female units to move around. Vietnam war games aren't going to have much in the way of female combatants in any role. Hell anything even now pre-Afghanistan isn't going to have much in the way of female roles close to combat.

That said it would really work well to add women into games AUTHENTICALLY via the standard "dressed as a boy" (depending on era, think Joan of Arc) or "trapped behind enemy lines and part of the resistance" type of narrative.

And, of course, in modern NON-authentic games, fantasy, and science fiction the gates are wide open for female protagonists.
